# Job Description: Field Worker – Child Protection Program
## Position Title
**Community Social Worker – Child Protection Program**
## Reporting To
Project Coordinator / Block Coordinator
## Duty Station
Assigned villages and Gram Panchayats of Munger District, Bihar

Job Purpose
The Field Worker will be responsible for implementing community-based child protection activities in assigned villages and Gram Panchayats. The role requires achieving project targets, strengthening community child protection mechanisms, preventing child marriage, identifying vulnerable children, facilitating government service linkages, and coordinating closely with government stakeholders to ensure the protection and well-being of children.

Key Roles and Responsibilities
### 1. Community Mobilization and Child Protection
* Mobilize communities to promote child rights and child protection.
* Facilitate the formation and strengthening of **Child Protection Committees (CPCs)** in assigned villages/Gram Panchayats as per project targets.
* Ensure regular meetings and effective functioning of CPCs.
* Build awareness on child protection issues through community meetings, campaigns, and village-level events.
### 2. Child Marriage Prevention
* Identify girls and boys at risk of child marriage.
* Prevent child marriages through timely intervention with families, community leaders, Panchayat representatives, and relevant government authorities.
* Maintain records of child marriage prevention efforts.
* Follow up on identified child marriage cases until resolution and ensure appropriate legal and social support where required.
### 3. Case Management and Follow-up
* Identify vulnerable children requiring protection and support.
* Follow up on child protection cases, including rescued children, until rehabilitation and service linkage are completed.
* Maintain confidential case records and documentation.
* Refer cases to appropriate government departments and service providers.
### 4. Government Scheme Linkages
* Facilitate the enrollment of rescued children and vulnerable families in relevant government welfare schemes.
* Support eligible families in accessing benefits under **Samajik Suraksha Kalyan** and other social protection schemes.
* Coordinate with government departments to ensure timely access to entitlements.
### 5. Identification of Vulnerable Children
* Conduct regular village visits to identify:
* Children at risk of abuse, neglect, and exploitation.
* Girls vulnerable to child marriage.
* Children at risk of online and digital abuse.
* Children vulnerable to human trafficking.
* Out-of-school children and children requiring immediate protection services.
* Maintain updated village vulnerability profiles.
### 6. Government and Stakeholder Coordination
* Develop and maintain strong working relationships with:
* Child Protection Unit
* District Child Protection Unit (DCPU)
* Child Welfare Committee (CWC)
* Police and Special Juvenile Police Unit (SJPU)
* Panchayati Raj Institutions
* ICDS functionaries
* Education Department
* Health Department
* Village-level committees and community leaders
* Participate in government coordination meetings and represent the project when required.
### 7. Target Achievement
The Field Worker will be responsible for achieving project targets, including but not limited to:
* Formation and strengthening of Child Protection Committees.
* Number of community awareness sessions conducted.
* Number of vulnerable children identified.
* Number of child marriages prevented.
* Number of child marriage cases followed up.
* Number of rescued children rehabilitated and linked to services.
* Number of vulnerable families linked with Samajik Suraksha Kalyan and other government schemes.
* Number of referrals made to child protection services.
* Timely submission of reports and documentation.
### 8. Documentation and Reporting
* Maintain accurate field registers, case files, and beneficiary records.
* Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports.
* Document success stories, best practices, and challenges.
* Submit reports within the prescribed timelines.

Required Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Sociology, Rural Development, Psychology, or any related discipline.
* Diploma or certification in child rights or community development is desirable.

## Experience
* Minimum 2 years of experience in child protection, community development, or NGO sector.
* Experience in child marriage prevention, case management, or government coordination is preferred.

Skills and Competencies
* Strong community mobilization and facilitation skills.
* Ability to work in a target-oriented environment.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills.
* Knowledge of child protection laws and government welfare schemes.
* Ability to maintain confidential case records.
* Strong documentation and reporting skills.
* Problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities.
* Ability to work independently and travel extensively within assigned villages.
## Working Conditions
* Extensive travel within project villages and Gram Panchayats.
* Regular interaction with children, families, community members, and government officials.
* Flexibility to respond to urgent child protection cases, including emergencies outside regular working hours when required.
* Flexible in local Train travelling in to project blocks/villages
