We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Finance professional to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the organization's financial sustainability and adherence to all applicable regulatory requirements and compliances within the Indian context.
Responsibilities:
Financial Strategy and Planning:
Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the organization's mission and goals.
Collaborate with the program team and leadership to integrate financial planning with programmatic activities.

- Financial Reporting
- Oversee the preparation of accurate and transparent financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Prepare and present to SAWF IN’s finance Review Committee quarterly, analytical updates on the financial health of the organisation and compliance adherence.
- Ensure SAWF IN is up to date with the latest compliance and accounting principles specific to non-profit organizations.
- Budgeting and Grant Management
- Lead the development of annual budgets and work closely with program teams to align financial plans with grant requirements.
- Monitor and review the organisational budget on a continual basis to ensure that it is adhered to.
- Oversee preparation of grant expenditure reports
- Provide financial information to the programme team on a regular basis for management of programme activities.
- Compliance and Regulatory Oversight
- Stay informed about changes in non-profit regulations and ensure the organization's compliance with the Foreign Contributions (Regulation) Act (FCRA) and other relevant laws.
- Work closely with legal counsel to address compliance issues, anticipate and mitigate risks.
- Internal Controls
- Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure financial integrity, including preparation of financial guidelines and manuals as required.
- Conduct regular reviews to assess the effectiveness of internal controls. When required undertakes field visits to review financial procedures and processes of partners
- Audit Management
- Coordinate and manage external audits, ensuring compliance with audit requirements.
- Address audit findings and implement corrective actions in collaboration with relevant duty holders.
- Provides support and financial counsel to the programme team and partners by way of finance related workshops, trainings and learning sessions, to ensure their compliance to local legislation and donor requirements and aid problem-solving for financial planning matters.
- Is responsible for timely preparation and filing of all returns such as FCRA, IT etc.
- Is responsible for complying with audit observations highlighted by internal, statutory or donor auditors.
- Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in finance or commerce with 10+ years of experience in financial management within the non-profit sector.
- Thorough understanding of Indian non-profit financial regulations, FCRA, and accounting standards for non-profits.
- Proven experience in financial management, grant accounting, and compliance for non-profit organizations.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to the values and mission of the organization.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
