About Calcutta Foundation
Calcutta Foundation, through its flagship program Apni Kutir, aims to support women at every stage of their journey towards financial independence through three core verticals: skilling & literacy, individual development, and community building. With 24 centres currently operating across West Bengal, Rajasthan, Bihar, Maharashtra, and Chhattisgarh, the Foundation provides skill development training such as tailoring, beauty and wellness, digital literacy, and life skills to young girls and women. Our holistic, 360-degree approach ensures women receive not just skills but also guidance, confidence, and emotional support to build sustainable livelihoods.

Female Local Candidates
In line with our commitment to providing a secure and supportive environment for women, this position is open only to local female candidates. Our goal is to maintain an all-female team to best serve the needs of the Apni Kutir community.

Role Overview
The Community Mobilizer is the bridge between the Apni Kutir centre and the women and families it serves. This role is at the heart of our community outreach — identifying and enrolling women into the programme, building trust with households and local leaders, and ensuring that the centre remains a well-known and respected resource in the neighbourhood. The Mobilizer also plays a key role in participant retention by staying connected to students throughout their training journey and helping them navigate any barriers to continued attendance.

Key Responsibilities
Community Outreach & Enrolment
1. Conduct door-to-door outreach and community mapping to identify women and girls who would benefit from Apni Kutir's training programmes.
2. Organize information sessions, community meetings, and awareness events to promote the centre and its offerings to target communities.
3. Build and maintain relationships with community leaders, panchayat members, local influencers, SHGs, and women's collectives to facilitate referrals and sustained engagement.
4. Drive enrolment across all training verticals — tailoring, beauty, mehendi, digital literacy, and other skills — ensuring batch targets are met.

Participant Engagement & Retention
1. Maintain regular contact with enrolled students and their families to address concerns, monitor attendance, and support continued participation.
2. Identify social, familial, or personal barriers to attendance — and work proactively with the Centre Coordinator and counsellors to address them.
3. Organise participant engagement activities, celebrations, and peer learning sessions to foster a strong sense of community within the centre.

Stakeholder Relations & Community Trust
1. Serve as a visible, trusted ambassador for Calcutta Foundation and Apni Kutir in the neighbourhood.
2. Facilitate positive relationships between the centre and local institutions such as schools, health facilities, government offices, and religious bodies.
3. Gather community feedback on the centre's programming and relay it to the central team to inform continuous improvement.
4. Support the documentation of community impact through stories, testimonials, and photographs.

Data & Reporting
1. Maintain records of outreach activities, enquiries, enrolments, and referral sources.
2. Submit weekly mobilization reports to the Centre Coordinator.
3. Support data collection for programme evaluations, surveys, and donor reporting as required.

Key Requirements
1. Fluency in Bengali is essential; working knowledge of Hindi is required.
2. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to connect across diverse communities.
3. Confidence in public speaking and facilitating group discussions.
4. Prior experience in community outreach, field mobilization, or similar ground-level roles.
5. Deep understanding of the local community's social norms, needs, and dynamics.
6. Willingness to travel extensively within the community on foot and by local transport.

Qualifications
1. Minimum qualification: Higher Secondary (12th standard); a Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related field is preferred.
2. 1-3 years of experience in community mobilization, field outreach, or grassroots programme work.
3. Experience with NGOs, SHGs, or government community schemes (NRLM, Mahila Mandal, etc.) is an advantage.
