Job Position: Project Manager, Wellbeing Out of Waste Project
Location: Hyderabad, Telangana

Wellbeing Out of Waste (WOW) is a flagship initiative launched by ITC Limited in alignment with the Swachh Bharat Mission (2.0) and Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026. Modern Architects for Rural India (MARI) NGO is implementing WOW project in partnership with Urban Local Bodies in Hyderabad, Telangana State. The WOW project currently impacts over 324 lakh citizens across 7 states, including Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Delhi, Bengaluru, and Coimbatore. In Telangana alone, the initiative covers 18.9 lakh households across 1,120 municipal wards, including Hyderabad, Peerzadiguda, Khammam, and Karimnagar, etc.,
The objectives of the WOW programme are to promote source segregation among students, households, and corporates through targeted information, education, and communication strategies and the Interschool Recycling Championship. Promoting sustainable livelihoods by integrating informal waste pickers and handlers into formal systems, providing stable incomes, safe working conditions, and social dignity.
Establishing and managing Material Recovery Facilities and Central Recycling Parks with automatic baling and sorting infrastructure.
Role of the Project Manager - The Project Manager will serve as the overall in-charge of the WOW Project in Hyderabad, Telangana. The successful candidate will lead project execution, manage cross-functional teams, handle financial and resource planning, and maintain strategic relationships with ITC leadership, government departments, and community partners.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop annual project implementation plans and budgets, and set monthly operational targets to ensure expected outcomes are achieved.
• Responsible for overall project achievements in line with the Annual Plans and provide support and guidance to the project team in the execution of the project.
• Act as the primary liaison between the ITC WOW team, municipal administration departments, education officers, corporate partners, and franchisees.
• Support the end-to-end operations of the Central Recycling Park and the Interschool Recycling Championship, and facilitate capacity building for municipal resource persons and field teams.
• Oversee team recruitment, conduct regular performance reviews, assign weekly work plans, and guide field staff.
• Manage project budgets, track expenditure, and ensure timely disbursements to vendors, interns, and project staff in coordination with finance teams.
• Conduct site supervision visits, lead weekly/monthly review meetings, and submit timely progress and analytical reports to ITC and management.
Key competencies & required qualifications
• Postgraduate in Social Work, Environmental Science, or any other most relevant subject.
• Must have 10 to 15 years of experience in the development sector, NGOs, CSR project execution, with qualification in MSW or Environmental Science.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multi-tier field teams and drive performance in large-scale community, environment, or education projects.
• Strong networking and negotiation skills to engage with corporate CSR teams, municipal and educational officials and civic bodies.
• Expertise in project design, budget tracking, SOP adherence, data quality management and mid-course corrections.
• Proficiency in tracking project metrics, managing data quality, and executing course corrections where required.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English for high-level reporting, documentation of best practices, and executive presentations.
• Passion for environmental sustainability, waste management, circular economy models, and social inclusion.
