This is an opportunity to lead a purpose-driven institution, build the capabilities of staff and students, and advance TLMTI’s mission of inclusion, empowerment and sustainable livelihoods for people affected by leprosy and marginalised communities.
THE LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITY

As Head of the Institution, the Principal carries overall responsibility for implementing TLMTI’s approved programme at the centre — upholding the organisation’s policies, vision, mission and values through every activity. The role combines strategic leadership of the centre with day-to-day management of its operations and the mentoring of key staff for future leadership.

- Statutory Compliance & Risk Management — Ensure compliance and reporting under Income Tax, FCRA, Audit and PF requirements; identify and mitigate operational risks; safeguard custody of keys to safes, cash boxes and stores.
- People Leadership & Staff Development — Recruit centre staff (with approval from Head – Sustainable Livelihood Programmes and Head – HR); conduct performance appraisals; maintain discipline and personnel records; mentor staff and plan succession.
- Stakeholder & Government Engagement — Represent the VTC before local communities, government bodies and stakeholders; respond to periodic internal and external evaluations.
- Institutional Planning & Development — Plan and implement long- and short-term goals for the centre, and undertake additional responsibilities assigned by the Head – SLP, Deputy Directors or Director.
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

- Postgraduate or Graduate degree in Engineering.
- Proven experience in institutional leadership, programme/project management or vocational training administration — ideally within the development or social sector.
- Sound understanding of financial planning, budgeting and statutory compliance for a non-profit institution.
- Strong people-management skills, with experience mentoring and developing teams.
- Excellent communication and public relations skills, with the ability to engage government bodies, donors and local communities.
- Alignment with, and willingness to uphold, the values, vision and mission of The Leprosy Mission Trust India.
- Willingness to be based at the respective centre (Vizianagaram, Andhra Pradesh or Faizabad, Uttar Pradesh).
WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS

As Head of the Institution, the Principal’s leadership directly shapes the quality of vocational training delivered to people affected by leprosy and marginalised communities — building skills, sustainable livelihoods and dignity. The role strengthens the institutional capacity of the centre and carries forward TLMTI’s holistic mission of health, empowerment and inclusion.
