Job Description (JD) - Accountant

Position Title: Accountant
Department: Finance & Accounts
Location: Kondagaon, Chhattisgarh
Reporting To: Regional Accounts Officer

Job Summary

The accountant will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations, maintaining financial records, processing payments, ensuring statutory compliance, preparing financial reports, and supporting audits. The candidate should have strong accounting knowledge along with the ability to communicate in multiple languages.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Bookkeeping

Maintain books of accounts and financial records.

Record daily financial transactions in Tally ERP/Tally Prime or ERP systems.

Prepare journal entries, vouchers, ledgers, and reconciliations.

Verify bills, invoices, and supporting documents.

Financial Management

Process vendor payments and employee reimbursements.

Prepare bank reconciliation statements.

Monitor cash and bank transactions.

Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing activities.

Taxation & Compliance

Ensure compliance with GST, TDS, PF, ESIC, Professional Tax, and other statutory requirements.

Prepare and file GST and TDS returns.

Coordinate with auditors during internal and external audits.

Maintain statutory records and documentation.

Reporting & MIS

Prepare monthly financial reports and MIS reports.

Monitor project budgets and expenditure.

Support preparation of donor/CSR/project financial reports.

Maintain proper filing and record management systems.

Coordination & Communication

Coordinate with project teams, vendors, banks, auditors, and stakeholders.

Support field offices in accounting and documentation activities.

Assist management in financial planning and reporting requirements.

Required Qualifications

B.Com/M.Com or equivalent qualification in Commerce, Finance, or Accounting.

MBA (Finance) preferred.

2-5 years of relevant accounting experience.

Required Skills

Strong knowledge of Accounting, GST, TDS, and Statutory Compliance.

Proficiency in Tally ERP/Tally Prime and MS Excel.

Experience in MIS reporting and financial analysis.

Good analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.

Language Requirement

Mandatory: Hindi and English (Read, Write & Speak)

Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders across different regions.

Preferred Experience

Experience in NGO, CSR, Development Sector, or Project Accounting.

Experience handling multi-location accounts and project finances.
