About Parisar -
Parisar is a Pune-based organisation working towards more sustainable, equitable and liveable cities. Our work spans sustainable mobility, road safety, air quality, climate action and urban governance. We use research, evidence, public engagement and communications to help build better cities.
We are looking for a Communications Designer to strengthen our digital communications and visual storytelling. The person will primarily be responsible for creating high-quality social media creatives and videos, while also supporting Parisar's website, newsletter, social media publishing and digital content, and the national networks that Parisar is a part of.
Key Responsibilities -
1. Design & Visual Content
• Design social media creatives, carousels, posters, infographics and other digital assets in line with Parisar's brand guidelines.
• Create short-form videos and reels using Canva for Parisar's social media platforms.
• Design creatives and video assets for different projects and campaigns as per the organisational social media calendar.
• Adapt content for different platforms and formats while maintaining consistency in visual identity and messaging.
• Work with the Communications Strategist and project teams to translate research, data and project information into clear and engaging visual content.
• Ensure all creatives are proofread, factually accurate, accessible and aligned with Parisar's tone and brand guidelines, as well as the national networks that is Parisar is a part of.
** Use of AI: Parisar has an organisational SOP governing the use of AI in communications and content creation. AI-generated visuals, videos and other creative assets are not encouraged for Parisar's organisational communications. The person in this role will be expected to follow the SOP and use AI only where explicitly permitted and appropriate.
2. Social Media Management
• Publish and schedule posts across Parisar's social media platforms, including LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, X and YouTube.
• Publish content for national networks and platforms that Parisar is part of, as required.
• Ensure posts are published accurately and on time according to the social media calendar.
• Add appropriate captions, links, tags, hashtags and other platform-specific elements.
• Maintain and regularly update the stakeholder, partner, media and influencer tagging list.
• Keep track of relevant partners, networks and stakeholders to ensure appropriate tagging and amplification of content.
3. Social Media Analytics
• Compile and analyse monthly social media analytics across platforms.
• Track key indicators such as reach, impressions, engagement, follower growth, video performance and website traffic generated through social media.
• Identify patterns, high-performing content and areas for improvement.
• Use insights from analytics to inform future content, formats, publishing strategies and campaigns.
• Contribute to periodic communications and social media reviews.
4. Website Management (for Parisar and the national networks it is part of)
• Upload and update articles, blogs, reports, newsletters and other content on the Parisar website.
• Update existing website information and articles in line with Parisar's communications and editorial guidelines.
• Ensure website content is accurate, up to date, well formatted and appropriately categorised.
• Upload relevant images and other visual assets and ensure basic website content hygiene.
• Coordinate with the Communications Strategist and relevant project teams on website updates.
5. Newsletter (for Parisar and the national networks it is part of)
• Put together Parisar's newsletter in coordination with the Communications Strategist and project teams.
• Source, edit and format content and visuals for the newsletter.
• Ensure the newsletter is reviewed, finalised and published on schedule.
• Share the newsletter through the appropriate channels and support its promotion on social media.
• Track and analyse newsletter performance, including opens, clicks and other relevant metrics, and share insights for improvement.
6. Photo Bank & Digital Assets
• Develop and maintain an organised photo bank for Parisar's website, social media and other communications.
• Regularly upload, organise, label and categorise photographs and visual assets.
• Ensure photographs have appropriate credits and relevant information wherever required.
• Identify gaps in the photo bank and coordinate with the team to build a stronger visual repository of Parisar's work.
7. Podcast Development
• Support the ideation and development of a podcast series for Parisar.
• Research potential themes, formats, audiences and guests in consultation with the Communications Strategist.
• Help develop episode concepts, visual identity and promotional assets.
• Support basic production, editing, publishing and promotion of podcast episodes.
Required Skills & Experience
• 4-5 years of experience in communications, graphic design, digital communications, social media or a related field.
• Strong proficiency in Canva, particularly for social media design and short-form video creation.
• Good understanding of social media platforms and their content formats.
• Strong visual sense and an ability to turn complex information into simple, engaging communication.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work with content related to urban issues, sustainability, mobility, environment and public policy, or willingness to learn.
• Experience with website content management systems such as WordPress and Joomla will be an advantage.
• Familiarity with social media and newsletter analytics tools.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work across different projects.
• Interest in podcasts, digital storytelling and emerging communications formats will be an advantage.
