SNEHA (Society for Nutrition, Education and Health Action) is a Mumbai-based non-profit organization dedicated to improving the health, nutrition, and safety of women and children living in vulnerable urban informal settlements. Our mission is to empower urban women and children through integrated
health and nutrition programs, education, and advocacy.

We work through a dual approach—engaging both care seekers and care providers. At the community level, we empower women and families to become agents of change, while simultaneously collaborating with public health and safety systems to drive sustainable improvements in urban health

Between 2016 and 2025, SNEHA directly reached over 620,555 women, children, and healthcare workers, and indirectly impacted a population of over 3.63 million across seven municipal corporations and three municipal councils in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).

Today, SNEHA is a 500+ member organization with deep grassroots presence and a strong track record of reducing maternal and neonatal mortality, child malnutrition, adolescent anemia, and violence prevention against women and children—key determinants of health equity for families and
communities.

ABOUT SNEHA KNOWLEDGE CENTRE:
SNEHA Knowledge Centre is an initiative to strengthen the health promotion and violence prevention
ecosystem for women and children in India through the development, scaling and sharing of evidence-based solutions. It builds upon SNEHA’s expertise of over 25 years in health interventions (curative,preventive and promote) and violence prevention (primary, secondary and tertiary violence) and works
in partnership with public systems, policy makers, community organizations, service providers, research and education within the ecosystem. The SNEHA Knowledge Centre aims to enhance the health promotion and violence prevention ecosystem for women and children in India. Our goal is to develop,
scale, and share evidence-based solutions across community-based organizations, public systems, service providers, research, education, and policy.

PROFILE SNAPSHOT

Role: The Researcher will lead qualitative, needs assessments, and evidence generation to understand the experiences, capacities, and learning needs
of partners and collaborators associated with the SNEHA Knowledge Centre Educational Requirement: MPhil/Master’s degree in Public Health/Social
Science/Gender Studies

Experience: Proven experience as a qualitative researcher of minimum 3 to 5 years.

Location: Mumbai (travel across Chembur, Wadala & Santacruz locations)

COMPREHENSIVE OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION
We are looking for a committed and qualified candidate interested in conducting secondary research to compile the resources for the Gender Resource Centre. The role will generate evidence to inform adaptation and replication of programs across partners to strengthen partnerships and build new
evidence.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
The Researcher will work across four work packages:
Work package 1: Developing Common Indicators for Violence Prevention Work with partner organizations to understand their violence-prevention programs through online/in-person meetings and discussions, and identify relevant areas for measurement.

Support the development and finalization of common indicators to measure violence prevention and adapt them to partners’ social and program contexts.
Support partners in piloting the indicators, including data collection, and provide guidance on data collection processes as required.

Review, organize, and analyze data collected by partners to identify key findings and emerging learning.

Prepare presentations, publications, and other knowledge-sharing outputs based on the findings.

Work Package 2: Needs assessment for Maternal and Child Health Knowledge sharing Develop and administer a survey to understand the training, technical, capacity-building, IEC, and M&E needs of NGOs and government workers working in maternal and child health across urban, rural, and tribal contexts.

Coordinate with NGOs and government stakeholders to administer the survey, collect responses, and ensure representation across different contexts.
Organize and analyze the data to identify common and context-specific training and capacity-building needs, areas of interest, and gaps in existing support.
Identify gaps that can be addressed through SNEHA Knowledge Centre (SKC) courses and learning resources, and recommend priority topics, formats, and target groups for future courses.

Prepare a summary of key findings and recommendations and document the learning to inform future capacity-building and course development.

Work Package 3: Strengthen Partnerships
Document partners’ implementation experiences and identify key barriers, enablers,adaptations, and contextual factors influencing implementation.
Capture and analyze partner perspectives to understand what is useful, challenging, ormissing in the collaboration.

Analyze factors influencing effective partnerships, including communication, coordination,role clarity, and opportunities for strengthening collaboration.
Generate and document qualitative evidence and learning through outcome harvesting,reflection interviews, process documentation, case studies, learning briefs, and thematic analyses.

Use qualitative evidence to complement M&E findings and deepen understanding of outcomes, implementation processes, and emerging learning.

Work Package 4: Documentation and Publication
Document key learnings, implementation experiences, partner perspectives, and emerging evidence from the project.

Analyze and synthesize qualitative and field-level evidence into clear, actionable insights for internal and external stakeholders.

Develop case studies, success stories, learning briefs, reports, and other knowledge products based on research findings.

Contribute to research reports, articles, presentations, and publications to disseminate evidence and project learning.

Ensure systematic documentation of project experiences and learning to support knowledge sharing, replication, and scale-up.
