About the Project
Garima Greh is a shelter home for transgender persons established under the SMILE (Support for Marginalized Individuals for Livelihood and Enterprise) Scheme of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. The project aims to provide shelter, food, medical care, counselling, skill development, and recreational facilities to transgender persons in need.
Educational Qualification and Experience
* Master's Degree in Social Work / Social Science (MA/MSW) is mandatory.
* Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience in counselling is required.
Desirable
* Transgender candidates, particularly those belonging to Bhopal, with at least 1 year of experience in counselling will be given preference.

Key Responsibilities
* Build a relationship of trust and mutual respect with residents of the shelter home.
* Support residents in understanding themselves and coping with personal and psychosocial issues.
* Encourage residents to make informed decisions and define their own direction in life.
* Develop IEC material, success stories, and progress reports as required.
* Help residents set goals and develop action plans, adopting a holistic approach that addresses both mental and physical well-being.
* Conduct regular individual and group counselling and guidance sessions.
* Coordinate with the Project Manager and other staff to ensure the overall welfare of residents.

Skills Required
* Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to listen actively and empathetically.
* Sound understanding of the social, psychological, and emotional needs of the transgender community.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to a strict code of ethics.
* Effective communication skills in the local language.
