About the Position

Chotanagpur Kalyan Niketan (CKN) is inviting applications for the position of Safety Manager for its Rural Creche Initiative. Supported by the Azim Premji Foundation, this initiative aims to provide safe, nurturing, and learning-friendly spaces for children in remote tribal villages of Simdega district, Jharkhand.

The Safety Manager will be responsible for ensuring that all crèche centres meet established safety standards and protocols. The position will focus on centre safety, fire safety, infrastructure safety, regular safety audits, risk identification, and capacity building of caregivers and project team members.

Key Responsibilities

Develop a comprehensive understanding of the creche safety protocols, guidelines, and safety standards.
Assess proposed and existing crèche spaces from the perspective of established safety parameters.
Coordinate and oversee necessary modifications, repairs, fencing, gates, and other safety measures before the centre becomes operational.
Ensure installation of appropriate safety gates and fencing at each centre.
Conduct safety assessments and complete prescribed safety audit and checklist documentation.
Organize and ensure fire-safety training for caregivers and project team members.
Conduct regular visits to all assigned centres and undertake monthly safety audits.
Maintain updated records of safety conditions, infrastructure, facilities, risks, and corrective actions at each centre.
Conduct regular safety orientation and capacity-building sessions for caregivers and team members.
Monitor the condition and expiry dates of fire extinguishers and other safety equipment and ensure timely action.
Coordinate with the Project Manager, Cluster Coordinator, Supervisors, Logistics Coordinator, caregivers, vendors, and other stakeholders to address safety concerns.
Identify safety risks and ensure timely corrective measures.
Perform any additional tasks assigned by the management related to safety and risk management under the Rural Creche Initiative.
Qualifications and Experience

· Graduation in Safety Management, Fire & Safety, Disaster Management, Engineering, Social Work, Rural Development, or a related field. Relevant professional certification in fire and safety will be an advantage.

· 3–5 years of relevant experience in safety management, fire safety, infrastructure safety, workplace safety, community programmes, or a related field.

· Experience in conducting safety audits, risk assessments, fire-safety training, or compliance monitoring will be highly desirable.

· Experience working in rural or community-based programmes will be an advantage.

Essential Skills

Strong understanding of fire safety, risk assessment, safety audits, and preventive safety measures.
Ability to identify safety risks and recommend practical corrective actions.
Strong inspection, monitoring, documentation, and reporting skills.
Good communication and training/facilitation skills.
Ability to conduct safety orientations for caregivers and field teams.
Good coordination and problem-solving skills.
Working knowledge of MS Office, email, internet tools, and digital reporting systems.
Ability to travel extensively to rural and remote crèche centres.
Strong commitment to ensuring a safe environment for young children.
Additional Requirements

Personal Vehicle: Must own a two-wheeler for regular field visits.
Referral Check: Employment will be confirmed only after successful referral verification from the previous employer.
Police & Background Verification: Mandatory police verification and background check will be conducted post-selection.
Candidates should be willing to undertake frequent field visits to remote villages.
Salary & Benefits

CTC: ?3,60,000 per annum (?30,000 per month, subject to applicable taxes and deductions).
Contract Duration: 12 months.
Travel Allowance: Provided as per organizational norms.
Final remuneration will be based on the candidate’s qualifications, relevant experience, screening, and interview.
