Position: AFPRO having its Head Office at New Delhi requires Jr. Agriculture Engineer for its Project office based in Lanjigarh, Kalahandi District, Odisha. This position is for implementation of the project titled ‘Watershed and livelihood project’ covering an area of approximate 13600 acres of land across 46 villages. The objective of the project is to contribute towards development and improvement of socio-economic status of the vulnerable communities through systematic management of natural resources in watershed approach.
Educational Qualification: Graduate/Post Graduate in Agriculture Engineering/ Soil and Water Conservation Engineering or related fields with Agricultural applications.
Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of relevant working experience in agriculture services, preferably in climate resilient crop production (climate smart farming techniques, Integrated Pest Management, Integrated Nutrient Management, agribusinesses, value chain and market development, livelihoods, disaster/climate responsiveness, rural development, etc.
Job Description
The Jr. Agriculture Engineer will closely work with the project team to provide technical advisory support on agriculture-related interventions. The candidate will be responsible for overall planning, detailed survey, execution, and monitoring & Supervision and reporting of the planned intervention as per finalized proposal and direction provided by the Project Leader and Regional Manager in different Districts of Odisha or other States.
The above position may require extensive travel to project locations.
Responsibilities:
• Work on AFPRO’s strategy in different Rural Development Projects.
• Overall planning, Management and coordination of Agricultural component. Conservation structures as per approval design and standards
• Supervise Construction and Execution of soil and water
• Implement project activities at village level in planned manner with deadlines in coordination with Project Leader and community mobiliser.
• Assist in designing and testing agricultural machinery, irrigation systems, and agricultural structures.
• Promote efficient irrigation systems and water use efficiency practices.
• Facilitate and support project for convergence with line department and ongoing schemes.
• Prepare technical reports, sketches, and cost-benefit analyses.
• Ensure projects comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
• Networking an liasoning with the relevant govt. departments for ensuring the convergence with the ongoing schemes
• Reporting and Documentation on agriculture interventions
• Facilitate & conducting Village Meetings, Discussions, awareness camps, Trainings etc.
• Carry out base line survey of the project villages as per need and requirement.
• Prepares analysis and data presentation
• Generate evidence based weekly, monthly & annual reporting for agriculture interventions
• Promote mutual understanding and cooperation between government regulatory agencies and the agriculture community.
Skills Required:
• Demonstrated experience in implementing and coordinating projects
• Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages,
• Fluency in Odia and English, both spoken and written are required;
