About the Program
Jhpiego has been working closely with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, state governments, and development partners to strengthen immunization program. Jhpiego India focuses on life course immunization, new vaccine introduction and, addressing age-specific vulnerabilities to reduce vaccine- preventable diseases across all life stages—thereby enhancing the collaborative efforts of other partners to safeguard individuals at every stage of life.
About the Position
The Communication Officer will support the design and implementation of communication strategies for Jhpiego India’s Immunization projects, aligned with national priorities. The officer will assist in developing, packaging, and disseminating communication materials and tools to enhance awareness and community engagement for immunization projects. The position will work closely with technical teams and stakeholders to ensure consistent, evidence-based messaging across platforms. The Communication Officer will report to the Advisor – Communications.
Roles and Responsibilities:
• Develop messaging and communication materials targeted towards various audiences, including healthcare providers, policymakers, and the general public.
• Collaborate with key stakeholders, including healthcare providers, government agencies, and other NGOs, to ensure effective communication and coordination.
• Monitor and evaluate the impact of communication efforts and adjust strategies as needed
• Create high-quality communication materials, including press releases, fact sheets, brochures, presentations, and other collateral, to support the department's communication goals.
• Execute communication campaigns and events, such as workshops, webinars, and other outreach
• activities, to promote the program’s objectives and engage with key audiences.
• Manage program’s social media presence, including Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and other relevant platforms, to share updates and news and engage with stakeholders.
• Support program team in developing/compiling reports, presentations for submission to the donors, and key stakeholders including regulatory bodies, various ministries, and partner agencies.
• Assemble briefing materials and prepare power-point and other presentations, in collaboration with the Program team.
• Undertake field visits to interact with various stakeholders for documentation and capture high quality photographs and video shots covering various aspects of project’s work.
• Document and disseminate progress and achievements for dissemination with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ensure internal communications through ICO notes, Viva Enagage (Internal Social media platform) and other methods.
• Undertake other assignments, which may be assigned from time to time by the Reporting Authority
Qualifications and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in communications, public health communication, journalism, public relations, or a related field.
• At least 3-5 years of experience in communications, preferably in the public health sector.
• Experience working with government agencies, donors, and creative agencies
Skills and Competencies:
• (Strong written and oral communication skills in English and a good knowledge of Hindi.
• Strong editing skills and ability to tailor communication materials for different audiences.
• Strong understanding of various social media platforms.
• High proficiency in MS Office (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook), AI tools, especially working with styles and templates.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with varied audiences.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks within deadlines.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new things.
• Willingness to travel intermittently.
• Ability to multitask and work in a multi-cultural team.
• Excellent organizational skills.
