POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Associate – Evidence and Learning will be a vital member of the PCC technical team, offering technical and analytical support across diverse thematic areas. He/she will work with various portfolios to provide endto-end support in data management and evidence synthesis, while contributing to strategic and technical initiatives for effective Monitoring, Learning, and Evaluation. He/she will be responsible for developing study designs and survey tools; supporting field teams in collecting quality data, preparing and analysing datasets, and interpreting results and writing impact stories. This is an early-career position designed for a researcher with a solid foundation in statistics, data management, and quantitative research design.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Monitoring, Learning & Evaluation (MLE)
- Assist in designing quantitative research frameworks, including sampling strategies and the development of survey instruments.
- Develop and manage the M&E system for the programme in line with the client’s and PCC’s requirements.
- Lead data cleaning, merging, and quality assurance processes for datasets to ensure the highest standards of data integrity.
- Conduct descriptive and inferential statistical analyses using software (Stata, R, Python) to identify trends, correlations, and impacts from various datasets.
- Create compelling data visualisations (graphs, dashboards, maps) to make complex quantitative findings easily understandable to non-technical stakeholders.
- Conduct rigorous secondary research and literature reviews to ground quantitative findings in existing global evidence.
- Support the drafting of technical reports, research and policy briefs, and presentations by synthesising analytical results into clear, concise narratives with programmatic implications, as applicable.
- Support organising meetings, workshops, and conferences with partners and clients.
Capacity Building & Knowledge Management
- Participate in training of investigators for data collection and travel to field sites (nationally or internationally) as part of monitoring visits and provide supportive supervision towards ensuring data quality.
- Contribute to the development of knowledge products, reports, and publications to document program impact.
- Support in facilitating learning workshops and disseminating best practices across the program portfolio.
Project Management
- Support in the planning, execution, and management of the project activities.
- Liaise with field teams and partners to monitor data collection progress and ensure adherence to research protocols and ethical standards.
- Oversee end-to-end execution of research studies, ensuring quality and methodological rigour.
- Undertake any other tasks assigned by the line manager.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Master’s degree (or higher) in Public Health (Epidemiology/Biostatistics), Economics, Statistics, Data Science, Demography or a related quantitative social science field, from a reputed institute or university.
- Strong understanding of quantitative methodologies, including experimental and quasi-experimental designs.
- 1–3 years of professional experience in research or data analysis (internships and academic research projects during Master's/PhD programs will be considered).
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and at least one statistical software package (e.g., Stata, R, SPSS, Python), with a strong understanding and ability for data merging and examining data quality.
- Experience of working with digital data collection and management platforms
- Familiarity with data visualisation tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
- Attention to detail, demonstrated by a meticulous approach to data cleaning and documentation to ensure reproducible research.
- Ability to triangulate findings from multiple sources and communicate complex data tables, information and technical findings clearly to diverse audiences, both in writing and verbally.
- A proactive attitude toward working in a "360-degree" team environment alongside experts from various sectors.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks across different thematic areas (e.g., shifting from a nutrition project to a climate change study) in a fast-paced environment.
