REACH is a leading non-profit organisation working on Tuberculosis and Non-Communicable Diseases, headquartered in Chennai. Established in 1999, REACH is currently implementing multiple projects across the country, working closely with health systems and communities to advance equitable health for all.
REACHwill be implementing a project to address the dual burden of TB and undernutrition in Vaishali district of Bihar. The project will be implemented in all the TB Units of Vaishali district. REACH is seeking applications from suitable candidates for the position of Field Coordinators. This is a four-year project supported by Tata Trust.
The broad aim of the project is to implement a family-centered nutrition support package for TB affected households, under routine programmatic conditions. The project seeks to improve nutritional status and TB treatment outcomes and reduce household-level TB transmission, through closer coordination with existing public health and social welfare systems.
Under the project four Field Coordinators will be appointed who will be mainly responsible for monitoring and supervision support to Community Health Workers. This is a core implementation role which will require one to interact with CHWs, NTEP staff and project staff. Field Coordinators will also provide logistics support for procurement and distribution of nutrition baskets in their catchment areas.
Key Responsibilities of Field Coordinators
- Monitoring and supportive supervision of CHWs
- Maintaining good working relationship for smooth implementation of the project activities in the respective TB Units of Vaishali
- Providing necessary support in procurement of nutrition baskets for distribution to people with TB
- Support in nutrition distribution to people with TB in coordination with other project staff
- Providing linkage and referral services to people with TB and household contacts
- Collection and compilation of data from CHWs
- Data validation and house visits as required for feedback
- Preparation of monthly TU wise report
- Providing support in training and other project activities as and when assigned
Qualifications and skills
The ideal candidate will have
- A graduation degree in Social Work or any related field
- At least 2–3 years of relevant experience of working in the field, preferably in TB or nutrition space
- Ability to prepare good reports
- Be comfortable in computers and specially in Excel
- Knowledge about Vaishali district and will be sensitive to the local context
- Good coordination skills to work with multiple stakeholders like NTEP, communities, CHWs, project staff, people with TB and their HHCs
- Willingness to travel within the district for monitoring and data validation
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Good observation skills to identify any field problems and problem-solving skills for potential solutions of the challenges
- Spoken and written fluency in Hindi language is a must for the position
