About WASH Institute
Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Institute (WASH Institute), established in 2008, is a non-profit organization, dedicated to providing practical solutions to tackle a wide range of water, sanitation, hygiene and environmental issues in India and the neighbouring countries. WASH Institute aims to build the capacities of the sector through programs that provide a) training and academic courses, b) technical advisory and consultancy services, and c) grass roots community WASH programs.
WASH Institute has been conducting extensive training programs for government functionaries, private sector professionals, NGOs, and other practitioners with the objective of effective WASH implementation across the country. In addition, our academic campus offers Diploma and Masters level courses in sanitation, under affiliation to a leading university.
As part of our WASH Advisory program, we provide PMU services to central, state, and local governments in both urban and rural areas to support implementation of SBM, JJM, and AMRUT schemes. Our community WASH programs are currently ongoing in 15 locations across 8 states and 1 Union Territory in India.
We are a multi-disciplinary team that tackle complex multi-faceted problems of behaviour change, quality of service, and sustainability of WASH interventions. We are looking for experienced professionals to work with us towards our visions of “a world where all the communities have access to safe, protected and sustainable drinking water and sanitation services, with improved hygiene practices”.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:
• Organize and deliver awareness-raising and informative sessions on hygiene in community and schools as determined by project objectives among students, teachers, school management committees and MDM workers.
• Employ Creative tools (audio-visual aids such as movies and recordings, descriptive posters, games, and group activities) during informative sessions to enhance the quality of learning and keep the learners interested.
• Design the content of informative posters and booklets for info awareness raising sessions on health and hygiene in schools and communities.
• Capacitate adolescents in community and schools on Menstrual Hygiene Management.
• Use relevant analogies connecting hygiene concepts to students, teachers and community members daily lives during sessions to make learning more relatable.
• Regularly employ assessment tools in order to assess the learning of the students and community members and ensure all their quires are answered.
• Maintain all work-related documents and share reports on hygiene activities conducted on regular basic.
• Assist the line manager in reporting and documentation, capture best practices and prepare case studies
• Prepare and submit Plan of Action and accomplishment report to the line manager on a monthly/quarterly basis.
• Support the line manager to monitor and review the progress of the project and effectively act to meet necessary requirements related to the programme goals and objectives.
• Support the reporting line manager to accomplish the urgent assignments if any.
Preferred Qualification and Experience
• Graduate / post-graduate from reputed collage/university.
• Minimum three years’ experience in development sector; basic knowledge of WASH will be preferred.
• Good writing skills, preferably in English.
• Strong command on local language (Bengali); able to communicate in English
• Basic computer knowledge (MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
• Must have own two-wheeler with valid driving license
• Understanding water and sanitation themes and issues is desirable and must have strong interest in working in the sector.
