About Inqui-lab Programs
Inqui-lab Foundation programs aim to nurture problem-solving capacities in adolescents

We design and deploy a continuum of programs - from foundational offerings like Think &
Make and School Innovation Marathon, to advanced engagements like Discover & Empower
and Youth for Social Impact. These help students build 21st-century skills and problem-solving
mindsets through hands-on, real-world experiences.
About the Role
We are looking for a Visual Designer to join our team on a project/contract basis.
In this role, you will be responsible for converting content created by the product team into
visually engaging student-facing books and learning materials for the Think & Make project

Job Description
Visual Designer, Product Function

[Grade 6-8]. You will work closely with the curriculum and product teams to translate content
into clear, structured, and appealing layouts on canva.
The role involves working with existing Canva-based outlines and converting them into
well-designed pages with strong visual storytelling, illustrations, and layout consistency.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities
Design & Layout
? Decide and manage the overall look of the Think & Make books across Grades 6 - 8.
? Set standard templates for recurring pages in the books across grades [colour
themes, typography etc for ease in reading and following the books]
? Translate rough content outlines [ in Canva format] into visual designs ready for print
? Support the design of student workbooks, activity pages, and other print-ready
materials [eg. certificates, stickers, puzzles etc]
? Maintain consistency in layout, spacing, alignment and overall visual language/flow to
maintain visual hierarchy across grades
? Ensure designs are age-appropriate, clear and engaging for school students
Illustration & Graphics
? Create or adapt simple illustrations, icons, and visual elements
? Enhance pages with supporting visuals that aid understanding and engagement
? Use AI tools (where relevant) to generate or enhance illustrations, images, or simple
comics based on content needs
Collaboration
? Work closely with curriculum designers to understand content intent and requirements
? Iterate on designs based on feedback from the team
? Ensure timely delivery of design outputs aligned with project timelines
Skills and Competencies Required
Core Skills
? Strong experience in editorial/book design
? Good understanding of typography, layout, and visual hierarchy

? Proficiency in Canva (must-have) and other design tools (Adobe InDesign/Illustrator is a
plus)
? Ability to work with structured templates and improve them visually
Design Abilities
? Ability to design contextual illustrations as requested by the product team
? Strong visual skills - storytelling, infographics; to convert basic content into clean,
engaging, student friendly designs
? Familiarity with AI tools for generating visual assets (illustrations, images, comics)
Working Style
? Strong attention to detail in consistency, spacing, and alignment
? Comfortable working in a collaborative, feedback-driven environment
? Openness to iteration and continuous improvement
? Ability to manage timelines and deliver within deadlines
Eligibility/Experience
? 1–4 years of relevant experience in book design, editorial design, or visual design
? Candidates with experience in educational content, workbooks, or children's
materials are preferred
