About the Project
The initiative for Evidence-based Primordial Prevention Model for reduction of modifiable risk factors for Diabetes is being implemented select districts with pre-dominantly tribal population across 5 states in India, namely Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. This is a collaborative project between Piramal Swasthya Management & Research Institute, Madras Diabetes Research Foundation and Public Health Foundation of India. The project aims to achieve the following:
1. Evidence-based models for primordial and primary prevention developed based on formative research and pilot interventions in place and ready for scale up
2. It will be interventions to improve knowledge and practices towards risk factors of DM through school based primordial and primary prevention approaches
3. Increased health literacy and knowledge about diabetes prevention among tribal women of reproductive age through community influencers leveraging committees and institutions
About the Role
The Consultant – Graphic & Content designer will support the design function for the project at the national level, ensuring development of high-quality, user-centric, and culturally appropriate visual and communication materials that support program implementation—particularly in tribal and hard-to-reach settings.
The role will focus on translating program strategies into simple, intuitive, and field-friendly design solutions that improve comprehension, enable frontline action, and drive behavior change for address the risk factors for diabetes and other NCDs.
The role is expected to work towards,
1. Create posters, banners, brochures, infographics, flip books, reports, presentations, and social media creatives.
2. Support layout of training manuals, program reports.
3. Develop illustrations, icons, and basic animations.
4. Design social media posts, reels/story templates, and campaign visuals.
5. Adapt creatives for multiple platforms (FB, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, YouTube).
6. Develop digital assets including social media creatives, short videos, and mobile-friendly content where relevant
7. Ensure brand consistency and adherence to design standards.
8. Ensure quality checks for print and digital outputs.
9. Collaborate with program and other internal teams.
10. Manage multiple design tasks and meet deadlines.
11. Coordinate with printers/vendors for print-ready files and quality.
12. Maintain well-organized folders, source files, and versions.
13. Provide editable files and final packaged outputs.
14. Establish design systems for consistency across IEC materials, training tools, and field resources
15. Ensure all outputs are optimized for usability in low-resource, low-literacy, and tribal contexts
16. Enable contextual flexibility while maintaining overall design coherence across geographies
17. Ensure materials are linguistically adapted, incorporating local dialects and culturally relevant symbols and imagery
18. Co-create and iterate designs based on feedback from field teams and tribal communities
19. Design engaging training materials, facilitator guides, and visual modules for capacity building of field staff
20. Convert technical guidelines into easy-to-understand visual formats for rapid uptake by project staff and frontline workers
21. Support development of demonstration tools and visual aids for community-level engagement
22. Translate behavior change strategies into compelling visual communication outputs
23. Design materials that address stigma, myths, and care-seeking barriers specific to tribal populations
24. Ensure communication materials are relatable, actionable, and context-sensitive
25. Design for multiple formats including print, mobile, and offline dissemination channels
26. Adapt content for low-connectivity environments using lightweight and accessible formats
27. Ensure high standards of design quality, accuracy, and consistency across all outputs
28. Establish review mechanisms to validate cultural appropriateness and field usability
29. Deliver all design outputs in alignment with program timelines and rollout plans
30. Leverage human-centered design principles to continuously refine materials based on user behavior
31. Identify scalable design solutions that can be integrated into national programs

Essential Qualifications
Graduation/Masters related to communications and design from a govt recognized institution or Diploma in Graphic design, Visual Communication
Essential Experience and Skills
• 3–6 years of professional experience in design (creative agency/NGO/corporate sector).
• Proven portfolio in the domains of digital and prints work.
• Experience in data visualization and creation of data stories
• Expertise of using
o Adobe Illustrator
o Adobe Photoshop
o Adobe In Design
o Canva (pro-level)
o Adobe After Effects / Premiere (basic video editing)
o Core Draw
o Other professional designing tools
• Fluency in English and Hindi (reading, writing, and speaking) is essential; knowledge of additional Indian languages is an advantage
Additional preference (Desirable)
• Proven experience in working with tribal communities or in rural/underserved areas.
• Experience working with multi-stakeholder groups, including government agencies, NGOs, and local community leaders.
