FXB INDIA SURAKSHA is a non-governmental organization dedicated to working for vulnerable children, especially those infected and affected by AIDS and Poverty. FXB India Suraksha is the India country chapter of FXB International (FXBI), a foundation based in Geneva, Switzerland and working since 1992 across the world, on poverty, HIV and children's rights. In 2007, FXB India was registered as FXB India Suraksha as a non-profit company under section 8 of the Companies Act, 2013. Since 2007 FXB India Suraksha (FXBIS), adopted an integrated approach in program delivery; and currently implements projects in the areas of health, prevention of child trafficking, child labour, education, nutrition, livelihoods, HIV, water and sanitation. Today, FXBIS works in 20 pockets across 10 states and union territories and reaches out to over 200,000 people through its community based inter-sectoral programmes and interventions.
About the Project:
The project engineer will provide technical support (Civil Engineering) to the project especially in terms of planning; preparing estimates, designs for construction works, ensuring quality of the school refurbishment works, make efforts to complete all civil works for effective implementation of school WASH Project.
Role : Project Engineer (Civil Engineer)
Reports to : Project Manager
Location : Primarily at Mangaldoi, Darrang District, Assam.
Job Description:
• She/He will be responsible for overall planning; preparing estimates, and designs related to school & Anganwadi refurbishments works and seek permissions from relevant depts. For construction.
• She/He should ensure the quality of civil works as per designs and project plans in plan districts.
• She/He will be responsible for negotiating with contractors/ vendors to get fair bids and works/ materials.
• She/He will be responsible for visiting all project target schools in districts and submitting the designs and plans to the Project Manager in time.
• Additionally offer support to the Project Manager in implementing the project effectively in all the project locations.
• Coordination with project staff and provide technical support to the project team.
• Identify the operational challenges in the project and ensure timely intervention and support to overcome the same.
• Provide oversight and support the knowledge management efforts of the project.
• To extend support to field co-coordinators to conduct meetings, capacity building trainings etc.
• To attend community and school level meetings, events and special days as required by the project
• To assist project in ensuring clean& hygiene class rooms, toilets, washing stations in all project targeted schools and strengthen of proper O&M systems in all schools.
• Ensure to submit quality and timely reporting of the progress weekly, monthly and quarterly bases.
• Take up additional activities as required / suggested by the employ.
• Prepare & maintain MB books, designs and estimation files.
Qualification:
• Qualification; Diploma in Civil Engineering, B. Tec in civil Engineering / Diploma in civil engineer and experience of project management is must
• Essential: Project Management skills
• Desirable: Auto CAD #D preparing design and estimate, Knowledge about MB uses, hardworking, willing to work in sites
• Experience: 3 to 4 years in preparing design and estimate and implementation of projects independently
• Desirable Skills and Qualities: Communication & negotiation skills, Honesty, Flexible to travel different locations.
• Professionally bilingual in Local language Assamese and English.
• Willingness to travel – Darrang District.
• Working knowledge of Computers – MS Office, Auto CAD.
Compensation Offered: Negotiable and based on qualification and relevant experience.
