Program Associate

Position : Program Associate — Nutrition

Project : Yes! to Poshan P&G Asifabad

No. of Positions : 02 (Two)

Work Location : Koutala Mandal, Asifabad District, Telangana

Remuneration : Based on experience & as per industry standards

Reporting To : Project Officer

About the Project

Vijayavahini Charitable Foundation (VCF), supported by Tata Trusts, has initiated the Yes! to Poshan P&G Asifabad programme to promote diet diversity among Pregnant and Lactating Women (PLW) and children under the age of 5 years in Koutala Mandal of Asifabad District, Telangana.
The programme will be executed across all villages of Koutala Mandal and will encompass surveys, growth monitoring, and a holistic Behaviour Change Communication (BCC) campaign to encourage the inclusion of various food groups in daily diets and promote the cultivation of backyard fruits and vegetables. Activities will be conducted through interpersonal interactions, small group and community conversations, and will encourage male participation. The programme will also facilitate the capacity building of Anganwadi Workers and Poshan Sakhis to conduct home visits and community-level meetings.

Roles and Responsibilities :

The Field Coordinator shall be responsible for the following:
• Co-ordinate with the VCF office in monitoring and implementation of the programme in the assigned region.
• Work closely with the Program Coordinator and Nutrition Lead in implementing planned activities with regard to diet diversity.
• Facilitate capacity-building training sessions for frontline workers of ICDS and Health departments, specifically on diet diversity and 1000 Days Care.
• Facilitate BCC/IEC campaigns on diet diversity and other components of nutrition at regular intervals.
• Conduct baseline, midline and end-line assessments in coordination with the project team.
• Engage and mobilize communities in taking up the kitchen garden initiative in the region.
• Identify, train, and orient Poshan Sakhis on diet diversity and related nutrition components; embed them with local resources for greater reach and community mobilization.
• Enable convergence with external donors and Government departments to mobilize and strengthening ICDS systems in the region.
• Support the programme team in conducting baseline, midline, and other evaluation studies as per programme requirements.
• Support the programme team in documenting best practices and case stories of project outcomes.
• Perform other duties as required from time to time.

Qualifications and Relevant Experience :
• 18–24 months of relevant experience with a reputed organisation, preferably in the social sector or community-based organizations.
• Preferably, candidates from the local mandal will be given priority for this position.
• Bachelor's degree in any Social Science, preferably Nutrition or related sciences, with experience in Health & Nutrition from a recognized university. Candidates with other degrees but strong enthusiasm to work with children and mothers are also encouraged to apply.
• Experience in working with ICDS or any other women development schemes is desirable.

Skills and Knowledge :
• Strong commitment to the aims and objectives of the current project.
• Demonstrated ability to work with mothers, children, and Government frontline workers.
• Good command of spoken and written English and the local regional language (Telugu).
• Willingness for extensive travel within the project geography is mandatory.
• Knowledge of MS Office tools is desirable.
• Proven skills in training field resources and community mobilization.
• Prior experience in conducting BCC/IEC activities will be an added advantage.
