Position Title : Project Officer — Nutrition
Project : Yes! to Poshan – P&G Asifabad
Number of Positions : 01 (Preference will be given to women candidates)
Location : Koutala Mandal, Asifabad District, Telangana
Reporting To : Senior Program Manager
Remuneration : As per experience and organizational standards
About the Project :
Vijayavahini Charitable Foundation (VCF), supported by Tata Trusts, is implementing the Yes! to Poshan Programme to promote improved nutrition and dietary diversity among Pregnant and Lactating Women (PLW) and children under five years of age in Koutala Mandal, Asifabad District.
The programme focuses on community-based interventions including growth monitoring, Behaviour Change Communication (BCC), nutrition awareness, kitchen garden promotion, capacity building of frontline workers, and community engagement initiatives to improve maternal and child nutrition outcomes.
Key Roles and Responsibilities :
• Lead and manage the overall implementation and coordination of project activities at the district level.
• Provide technical and operational support to field teams to ensure effective implementation of programme activities in alignment with project objectives.
• Monitor project progress regularly and ensure timely planning, execution, review, and reporting of activities.
• Identify implementation challenges, discuss them with the Reporting Officer, and recommend appropriate field-level solutions.
• Liaise and coordinate with government departments and stakeholders including ICDS, DWCD, DH&FW, and Mid-Day Meal (MDM) authorities for effective programme implementation.
• Plan and facilitate training programmes on nutrition, CMAM, food fortification, and related thematic areas for frontline workers and project staff.
• Facilitate Behaviour Change Communication (BCC) campaigns and community mobilisation activities related to nutrition, health, hygiene, and malnutrition prevention.
• Support assessments, surveys, growth monitoring activities, and collaborate with the Monitoring & Evaluation team for data collection, analysis, and reporting.
• Prepare and submit high-quality monthly, quarterly, and activity reports within stipulated timelines.
• Coordinate closely with the VCF state team for effective monitoring and implementation of project activities.
• Facilitate monthly review meetings and quarterly programme review meetings in consultation with the state team and stakeholders.
• Perform any other responsibilities assigned by the Reporting Officer as per programme requirements.
Skills and Competencies :
• Strong commitment towards community development and nutrition-focused programmes.
• Good understanding of maternal and child nutrition, CMAM, public health, and community-based interventions.
• Demonstrated experience in working with communities and frontline government functionaries.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to conduct training programmes and community mobilisation activities.
• Strong documentation, reporting, and presentation skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office applications is mandatory.
• Fluency in spoken and written English and Telugu is essential.
• Willingness to travel extensively within the project geography.
Experience :
• Minimum 4–6 years of relevant experience in public health, nutrition, ICDS, school nutrition programmes, CMAM, WaSH, or community-based development programmes.
• Prior experience of working with government departments such as ICDS, DWCD, Health & Family Welfare, or Education Department will be preferred.
• Experience in implementation of nutrition programmes addressing SAM and MAM children will be an added advantage.
• Knowledge of food fortification strategies, growth monitoring, and nutrition-sensitive interventions will be preferred.
Educational Qualification :
Master’s Degree in Food & Nutrition, Public Health, Social Work, Sociology, Anthropology, or any related discipline from a recognised institution.
Candidates with relevant experience in public health and nutrition programme implementation with reputed organisations will be preferred.
