About NCDHR
The National Campaign on Dalit Human Rights (NCDHR), a coalition of Dalit and Adivasi human rights activists and academics, founded in 1998, is dedicated promoting social equity and inclusion, particularly focused on enabling the Scheduled Castes and the Schedule Tribes to access their Constitutional rights and their development entitlements. Dalit Arthik Adhikar Andolan (DAAA) as a unit works for the economic rights of the Dalit and Adivasi communities and is pioneer in conducting the Dalit and Adivasi Budget Analysis every year, engage and contribute in various discourse & discussions, Research, Collaboration with both Government and non- Government entities for the welfare and development of Dalit and Adivasis communities.
JOB CONTEXT
There are numerous socio economic and livelihood programmes under the various Ministries and departments of the government of India and also under various CSR programmes and philanthropies in India which to large extent has an immense potential to bridge the gaps between the existing support and eligible beneficiaries. The Dalits and Adivasis are the minority communities which are the most vulnerable, marginalised and deprived in terms of accessing and availing the benefits of these existing programmes. Therefore, this project aims to address this issue and provide support to the Dalit and Adivasi communities of four selected states of India such as Maharashtra, Orissa, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar through capacity building programmes, awareness generation programmes and conduct camps which facilitates the target groups to apply for the schemes according to their eligibility criteria and avail the benefits of the applied government schemes and programmes.
JOB PURPOSE:
The State Coordinator is expected to support the complete integration of the project activities and align the work with NCDHR core values and principals in the state of Orissa. The project coordinator will be responsible for the attainment of project deliverables by engaging with the SC/ ST communities, both Govt. and non- government stakeholders, PRI, CSOs, CBOs, SHGs and youths of these communities and capacitate them to access their rights and entitlement through various awareness generation meetings and capacity building training programmes. The overall purpose of the position is to identify, understand, integrate and adopt measure to bridge the economic inequality among the Dalits and Adivasi community and empower them to access and avail rights and entitlement related to livelihood and income generation programmes.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Aspiring applicants for this post should possess the following qualifications:
• Post-graduate degree in any Discipline but PG in social science or MSW is desirable but is not limited to these specialised Discipline.
• At least three years’ experience of working on development sectors, SHGs integration and development, NGOs or the public or private sector.
• Excellent analytical and articulation skills (written and oral) encompassing presentation, communication and facilitation skills.
• A sound understanding of Dalit and Adivasi issues, and International Human Rights in general at least at local level.
• A team-player with problem solving attitude and networking abilities with diverse stakeholders is essential.
• Self-motivated with the drive to innovate and achieve challenging goals, and work where necessary to short deadlines
• Fluency in spoken and written English and Local language is essential.
TASKS:
• Integrate project activities in the state of Orissa and take the overall responsibility of planning, implement of activities, Documentation and knowledge building throughout the project duration in close association with the National Project Coordinator.
• Identify the key stakeholders across local, district and state level (Govt, non- govt, CBOs, CSOs, SHGs and PRIs) and create a convergence and coordination among them to integrated the project activities.
• Plan and conduct Capacity building and awareness generation programmes for the identified key stakeholders and beneficiaries within the given timeline.
• Conduct camps at local/ district level to provide support to the identified beneficiaries to apply for the income generation and livelihood schemes and programmes and provide handholding support to follow up the same aftermath of scheme camp and ensure 3000 successful application submission for schemes’ benefits through these camps by the project beneficiaries within the project duration of 3 years.
• Conduct Capacity building training for at least 40 PRI members and 40 SHGs members on the Rights and entitlements and livelihood programmes with special emphasis to members coming from SC and ST Communities.
• Facilitate and coordinate state action planning, their implementation, including financial reviews and monitoring periodically through accompaniment to the state partners and community networks.
• Foster progressive professional engagement with stakeholders in the state, engage and contribute in building network and expert to ensure and expand the sustainability of the project activities and outcomes.
• Contribute to internal reporting, enquiries, communications with stakeholders, and representation the organisation at strategically relevant platforms at various state level platforms.
