IHAT PURPOSE AND PRIORITIES
India Health Action Trust was instituted in 2003 as a Charitable Trust with a vision to meaningfully impact the lives of vulnerable and marginalised people by addressing health and social inequities. The Trust is working towards reducing inequities by developing comprehensive and sustainable programmes to improve population health. Since its inception, IHAT has working closely with the Government of India and state governments, including Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi and Bihar to achieve public health goals. Our work is focused in areas of prevention and control of HIV and Tuberculosis, in achieving significant improvements in Reproductive, Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health, improved Nutrition among mothers and children, and strengthening health systems. We use program science to optimise and scale public health programs while partnering with the governments and communities.
ROLE PURPOSE
The Data Science Centre at KGMU aims to serve as a multidisciplinary hub for transforming health data into actionable insights to improve patient outcomes, enable data-driven research, and support policy decision-making at the institutional and state levels.
The role holder should support data-driven strategies by providing real-time analytics and transforming complex data into interactive dashboards and visual reports for decision-making. The role holder should enable stakeholders to derive insights through effective data visualization.
DIMENSIONS OF THE ROLE
- Develop and monitor dashboards/ reports along with dataset refreshes (scheduled/ manual) and gateway status using service logs and alerts
- Ensure dashboards are user-friendly and actionable, and have accuracy and consistency in reports.
- Identify failures in dashboard visuals, data models, or refresh schedules and initiate first-level remediation (e.g., gateway restart, re-publishing)
- Collaborate with data Engineers to validate backend refresh issues affecting dashboard performance
- Respond to report-related service requests (new access, broken visuals, workspace moves), log and track issues, and resolv
- Maintain refresh logs and summary dashboards for support traceability and performance reporting
- Document report issues and corrective actions, contributing to the knowledge base
- Assist with visual enhancements and generate insights from datasets in collaboration with ETL experts and data scientist
- Train end-users on dashboard navigation and interpretation, and optimize dashboards for performance and user experience.
- Knowledge dissemination responsibilities include effectively communicating complex findings to both technical and non-technical audiences, sharing insights through presentations, reports, paper publications, and visualizations, and mentoring junior team members
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Essential:
- B.Tech/Master’s/PhD in Data Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, Business Analytics or IT
- At least 5+ years of experience in the IT sector, including a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in dashboard development and data visualization in Power BI or Tableau
- Strong SQL querying and data modelling experience
Desirable:
- Experience in healthcare data analytics or healthcare data projects
CRITICAL COMPETENCIES
Essential:
- Proficiency in Power BI or Tableau is mandatory
- Ability to translate business requirements into dashboards
Desirable:
- Experience in Python libraries such as Shiny is an added advantage
- Exposure to Azure SQL, Synapse, or Databricks as backend sources is a plus
- Knowledgeable in cloud-based platforms (AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Azure)

This is a fixed term appointment with option to renew, initially for a period of up to 1 year. After the initial fixed-term period, IHAT may choose to renew the appointment in accordance with its policies.
