Position Overview
The Manager – Finance supports the Lead – Finance in managing the organisation's financial operations, systems, and controls. The role is responsible for budgeting, accounting, statutory and donor compliance, financial reporting, and internal financial monitoring, while ensuring accuracy, transparency, and timely financial management across programmes and operations.

Working under the overall guidance of the Lead – Finance and in close collaboration with Programmes, MEAL, HR, Administration, Procurement, and other support functions, the Manager – Finance ensures that financial systems and processes are implemented in accordance with organisational policies, statutory requirements, donor commitments, and good financial management practices.

Core Responsibilities (70%)
• Support the Lead – Finance in implementing organisational financial strategies, annual budgets, and financial plans aligned with organisational priorities.
• Manage day-to-day financial operations, ensuring timely and accurate accounting, financial transactions, reconciliations, and maintenance of financial records.
• Monitor programme and administrative budgets, expenditure, cash flow, and fund utilisation, ensuring compliance with approved budgets and delegated authority.
• Coordinate statutory, donor, and internal financial reporting, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely submission.
• Ensure compliance with organisational financial policies, donor requirements, statutory regulations, and internal control systems, including FCRA, Income Tax, TDS, GST, and other applicable laws.
• Coordinate with auditors and support internal and external audits by ensuring timely documentation, responses, and implementation of audit recommendations.
• Collaborate with Programmes, HR, Administration, Procurement, and other functions to strengthen financial planning, budget management, compliance, and operational effectiveness.
• Strengthen financial systems and team capacity through mentoring, process improvements, documentation, and continuous learning.

Link Responsibilities (15%)
• Collaborate with Programme teams to support budget planning, expenditure monitoring, financial forecasting, and grant management.
• Coordinate with HR, Administration, and Procurement to ensure financial compliance, documentation, and effective resource utilisation.
• Liaise with banks, auditors, statutory authorities, donors, and other external stakeholders on financial matters as required.
• Act on behalf of the Lead – Finance, as delegated or required, to ensure continuity of financial leadership, coordination, and decision-making.

Systemic Responsibilities (15%)
• Promote sound financial governance, accountability, transparency, and prudent resource management across the organisation.
• Strengthen financial systems, internal controls, and compliance through continuous improvement and standardised practices.
• Foster a culture of financial awareness, collaboration, and shared accountability across teams.

Qualifications & Experience

Required
• Master's degree in Commerce, Finance, Accounting, or a related field. CA (Inter)/ICWA or equivalent qualification would be an advantage.
• Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, preferably within the development or nonprofit sector.
• Strong understanding of financial management, budgeting, donor compliance, and financial controls in development programmes.
• Working knowledge of statutory compliance, including FCRA, Income Tax, TDS, GST, and other applicable regulations.
• Experience in financial reporting, audits, and financial management information systems.

Preferred
• Experience working with donor-funded development programmes and multi-project financial management.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Tally or equivalent ERP/MIS platforms).
• Experience supporting financial planning, budgeting, and organisational audits.
