About ICRW:

Role Overview: ICRW is scaling its Gender and Education portfolio beyond ground-level implementation into system strengthening deeper ownership within JCERT/JEPC, stronger engagement with sector stakeholders, and enhanced thought leadership on gender-responsive education. This role is central to that transformation. The incumbent will lead the design and implementation of a comprehensive capacity-building strategy that enables stakeholders across the education ecosystem to strengthen their understanding and application of gender-responsive practices. Rather than delivering standalone training programmes, the role will focus on creating sustainable learning systems, fostering institutional ownership, and supporting long-term behaviour and systems change. The position will also contribute to knowledge generation, strategic partnerships, and sector-wide dialogue to advance gender equity in education.

The incumbent will provide technical leadership on gender and education, with a particular focus on strengthening public education systems, supporting curriculum reform, and building the capacity of teachers and educational institutions. The role will anchor the design, implementation, and continuous refinement of a structured capacity-building journey for both ICRW's programme teams and key government stakeholders, including teachers, Headmasters, Block and Cluster Resource Persons (BRPs/CRPs), Gender Nodal Officers, and DIET faculty. The role requires independent judgment, strong team coordination, and regular, close engagement with on-ground teams including frequent travel to schools, blocks, and district offices to ground design decisions in field reality rather than assumption. You will also represent ICRW in technical processes with JCERT/JEPC and in education coalitions at state or national level, contributing to document development, reviews, convenings, and curriculum engagements.

Key Responsibilities:
Capacity Building Journey Design
• Create a capacity building design for Internal team of ICRW aligned to the different strategies and program priorities in consultation with other members of program and research teams.
• Design a complete journey with milestones, modes and modules complete for the key stakeholders at different levels of the system.
• Support in developing a structured roadmap for capacity building across the year through calendarization and own the process milestones.
• Offer Mentoring support to the internal program team and as needed to build their capacity and curate such sessions in blended formats in consultation with the team.

Training Design and Resources
• Design training workshops and learning sessions based on program needs.
• Develop session plans, training structures, and participatory learning approaches.
• Ensure training designs incorporate- alignment with state education objectives, schemes and vision, field realities and adult learning principles.
• Develop training materials such as:
• learning activities and tools
• presentations and training aids

Facilitation & Stakeholder Engagement
• Facilitate selected training workshops and capacity building sessions.
• Support co-facilitation with program and government teams where required.
• Ensure interactive and reflective learning environments.
• Prepare a pool of external consultants/facilitators/resource persons to support trainings, webinars etc and coordinate their onboarding and management.

Documentation, Learning & Review
• Document key learnings, insights, and outcomes emerging from capacity building processes.
• Prepare concise workshop reports and reflection notes highlighting key discussions and recommendations.
• Conduct follow-up visits and review engagements to assess the application of training learnings in field settings.
• Provide evidence-based recommendations for course correction and strengthening of capacity building strategies.

Expected Deliverables
• A capacity building strategy and complete journey design for the ICRW team and state program.
• Training designs and facilitation plans for identified workshops.
• Training resource materials.
• Facilitation of training sessions, internal coaching and reviews from time-to-time.
• Brief documentation reports from training engagements.
• Follow-up review inputs and recommendations.

Required Qualifications and Experience
• Advanced degree in education, social sciences, or related field.
• Minimum 8–10 years of experience in capacity building and training design in the education or development sector.
• Strong experience in designing and facilitating participatory training processes.
• Experience working with government education systems preferred.
• Strong facilitation, writing, and documentation skills in English and Hindi.
• Strong interpersonal skills to strongly liaise with teams and manage internal coordination.

Preferred / Additional Competencies
• Working knowledge of relevant child protection frameworks (e.g., POCSO) as they intersect with training and disclosure scenarios.
• Experience designing multi-stakeholder, multi-level journeys (not just single workshops) — i.e., systems thinking applied to capacity building.
• Familiarity with adult learning theory and experiential/activity-based pedagogy.
• Prior experience building and managing a facilitator or consultant pool.
