Job Responsibility : Medical Officer

1. Job Title: Medical Officer

2. Project: RHFPC

3. Location: Service Delivery Point

4. Report to: Branch Manager

5. Subordinates: Para medical and sub staff of the RHFPC


6. Role: Function as the technical head of the clinical services and ensure smooth functioning of the clinic in keeping with the strategic plan of the association.

7. Duties and Responsibilities:

· Attend the clinic during hours laid down and at any other times when required

· Responsible for all the property, appliances and instruments of the clinic in a neat, clean and tidy way.

· Maintain all medical records, case history, registers etc as laid down.

· Assist MTPs, sterilizations and other minor surgical FP procedures.

· Provide Counselling and other related services.

· Responsible for signing indents for requirements of the clinic, according to the procedures laid down.

· Organizes the work of the clinic in such a way as to provide advice and all SRH services in keeping with the Strategic Plan of the Association.

· Make every effort to popularize all the SRH services of the clinic.

· Admit and undertake pre operative and post operative care of the clients admitted for surgery.

· Inform the Hon. Surgeons and Anesthetist well in time of any complications that may arise and shall be otherwise responsible for the safety of the clients.

· Ensure the smooth working of the operation theatre and assist operations whenever required.

· Responsible for the discipline, output of work, cleanliness and the schedule of duty hours for the medical, Para medical and subordinate staff in consultation with the Branch Manager.

· Responsible for the infection prevention and biomedical waste disposal as per FPAI Essential Service Standards and State Govt statuary requirements

· Responsible for maintaining referral networks, supported by BM and Medical sub-committee

· Organize the programme of daily work of the clinic and liaise closely with the medical staff, which includes surgeons and anesthetists.

· Ensure that proper and up to date records of all the activities of the Center are maintained and ensure the submission of regular reports.

· In charge of the administration of the clinic and in charge of the medical, Para medical and all other staff (including part time doctors, sub ordinate staff etc attached to the clinic)

· Undertake training for paramedical staff, participate in training and awareness programmes and attend conferences and seminars when directed to do so

· Attend to work at service delivery sessions as and when required.

· Attend Medical Sub-committee meetings as required

· Attend to other Branch duties as may be assigned by the Branch Manager/ superiors

· Medical Officer in charge will function as the technical head of the clinical unit/ services

· Will have the authority to arrange emergency drugs / equipment / transport as per the contingency allowance laid down by the BEC

· Must attend Continuing Medical Education (CME) programmes as needed.

· Responsible for maintaining the cold chain, inventory of drugs and equipment.

· Shall ensure that advocacy and awareness programmes for SRH services are carried out as required.

Qualifications: -Medical Officer - MBBS / BAMS (must possess a valid registration with the relevant Medical Council)
