Position Overview

The Manager – Human Resources will lead YCDA's people management function by developing and implementing HR systems that attract, retain, and develop talented professionals. The role is responsible for recruitment, employee engagement, performance management, learning and development, HR operations, statutory compliance, safeguarding, and organizational development. The position will ensure that HR practices align with organizational values, legal requirements, and donor compliance while fostering an inclusive, high-performing, and people-centred workplace.

Key Responsibilities

Human Resource Planning

  • Develop and implement the annual HR strategy aligned with organizational goals.
  • Plan workforce requirements in consultation with programme and support teams.
  • Support organizational restructuring and succession planning.
  • Monitor staffing levels and recommend resource optimization.

Recruitment and Talent Management

  • Lead end-to-end recruitment and onboarding processes.
  • Develop job descriptions, competency frameworks, and interview tools.
  • Build and maintain a talent pool for current and future organizational needs.
  • Ensure a positive candidate and onboarding experience.

Performance Management

  • Coordinate performance appraisal and probation review processes.
  • Support managers in setting performance goals and development plans.
  • Facilitate performance improvement initiatives.
  • Strengthen a culture of accountability and continuous feedback.

Learning and Organizational Development

  • Assess organizational learning needs and prepare annual capacity-building plans.
  • Coordinate internal and external training programmes.
  • Promote leadership development, coaching, and succession planning.
  • Support organizational change and culture-building initiatives.

Employee Relations and Engagement

  • Foster a respectful, inclusive, and collaborative work environment.
  • Address employee grievances and workplace concerns fairly and confidentially.
  • Lead staff engagement, wellness, and retention initiatives.
  • Provide HR guidance to managers and employees.

HR Operations and Compliance

  • Maintain accurate personnel records and HR information systems.
  • Ensure compliance with labour laws, statutory requirements, donor regulations, and organizational policies.
  • Coordinate payroll inputs, employee benefits, leave administration, insurance, and statutory contributions.
  • Prepare HR reports, dashboards, and management information.

Policy, Safeguarding, and Ethics

  • Review and strengthen HR policies and procedures.
  • Promote safeguarding, child protection, PSEA, POSH, anti-fraud, anti-bribery, and whistleblower standards.
  • Support investigations into misconduct while ensuring confidentiality and procedural fairness.
  • Build staff awareness of organizational values and compliance requirements.

Separation and Exit Management

  • Manage employee separation, retirement, contract completion, and exit processes.
  • Conduct exit interviews and coordinate full and final settlements.
  • Ensure timely recovery of organizational assets and documentation.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Human Resource Management, MBA (HR), Master of Social Work (MSW) with HR specialization, Personnel Management,Business Administration, or a related discipline.

Experience

Essential

  • 3- 5 years of progressive experience in Human Resource Management.
  • At least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory HR role.
  • Experience managing recruitment, performance management, employee relations, compensation, compliance, and organizational development.
  • Experience supporting multi-location teams and field-based operations.

Desirable

  • Experience working in NGOs, development organizations, or donor-funded programmes.
  • Sound understanding of Indian labour laws, statutory compliance, and donor HR requirements.
