Opening for Solid Waste Management Consultant, Assam
Urban Management Centre is looking for a passionate and driven professional to join us as Solid Waste Management Consultant- Guwahati Assam, to be a part of UMC’s state-level technical support unit in Assam for the Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban). The SWM Consultant will work with various stakeholders, including the government, community members, and private sector partners, to ensure the successful implementation of SWM projects.

Key Responsibilities
• Provide technical guidance to the state department of Assam for the Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) for SWM through technical guidelines; standard operating procedures (SOP) for O&M of various SWM facilities; advisories for segregation, routing of collection, home composting, managing special wastes (such as plastics, bio-medical, construction debris, etc); procurement and contracts management support; feasibility studies, baseline assessments, and capacity building activities for SWM.
• Support the state and cities in the design, implementation, and monitoring of SWM projects and conduct regular field visits to project sites to supervise and guide the state/ cities.
• Conduct training and capacity building activities for government officials, community members, and other stakeholders.
Qualifications:
• B.E/B. Tech (Mechanical/Civil/Environmental Engineering.) or a Masters in Environmental Science Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, or related field.
• Strong technical knowledge of SWM systems – planning and technologies, feasibility studies, baseline assessments, and technical studies in SWM, WASH and related fields.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience in SWM, WASH and related fields.
• Experience working with government agencies will be an added advantage.
• Proficiency in English; the ability to read, write, and speak Assamese will be an added advantage.
