About CEE:
The Centre for Environment Education (CEE) was established as a Centre of Excellence by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India, to promote environmental education and education for sustainable development. CEE develops innovative programmes, educational resources, and capacity-building initiatives in the field of Environmental Education (EE).
Internationally recognized for its work in Environmental Education (EE) and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), CEE also anchored the UNDP-GEF Small Grants Programme for nearly 20 years, supporting 400+ civil society projects focused on Climate Change, Biodiversity Conservation, Land Degradation, Waste & Chemicals, and International Waters.
With a long-standing mandate to enhance public awareness and understanding of the environment, CEE promotes the conservation and sustainable use of natural resources. About the Project:
Centre for Environment Education (CEE), in partnership with HDFC Bank, is implementing the project "Sustainable Circularity in Plastics – Rural and Urban Landscapes."
The project aims to promote sustainable and circular plastic waste management practices across rural and urban areas through evidence-based interventions, community engagement, institutional capacity building, stakeholder collaboration and behaviour change initiatives.
It seeks to strengthen resource efficiency, improve plastic waste segregation, collection and recycling systems, reduce environmental impacts associated with plastic waste, and promote scalable circular economy solutions that can be replicated across diverse landscapes.
Job Role:
The Project Officer will support the planning, coordination and implementation of project activities PAN India under the HDFC-funded Sustainable Circularity in
Plastics – Rural and Urban Landscapes project.
The officer will work closely with government departments, urban local bodies, Panchayati raj institutions, technical experts, academic institutions, civil society organisations, waste management stakeholders, producers, recyclers and community representatives to ensure timely implementation of project activities and achievement of project deliverables.
The selected candidate will report to the Sr. Program Director and work in close coordination with CEE's technical team, HDFC Bank and project partners.
Qualification and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Management, Urban/ Planning/Sustainability/Natural Resource Management or another relevant field with a minimum of 03–05 years of experience in the relevant field. A Master's degree will be preferred.
Experience in implementing Solid Waste Management (SWM) projects, including procurement, partnerships, stakeholder engagement, and project coordination. Strong knowledge of SWM technologies, procurement processes, regulatory compliance, and project management. Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other office software packages. Possess excellent analytical, communication, documentation, and coordination skills.
Scope Of Work:
- Coordinate procurement of goods, services, machinery, and equipment as per organizational policies, including vendor identification, quotations, negotiations, purchase orders, delivery, and vendor database management.
- Develop partnerships with technology providers, research institutions, recyclers, government agencies, and other stakeholders to support project implementation.
- Independently manage assigned Solid Waste Management (SWM) projects and coordinate with stakeholders to ensure timely achievement of project deliverables.
- Oversee project facilities, including site layout, machinery installation, utility planning, operational efficiency, maintenance, cleanliness, safety, and statutory compliances (Insurance, Fire & Safety, CTE, CTO, etc.).
- Coordinate vendor-led training on machinery operation, maintenance, and safety for project teams and service providers.
- Plan and support IEC activities, awareness campaigns, stakeholder engagement programmes, and participate in exhibitions, conferences, and technical forums to identify emerging technologies.
- Prepare and maintain procurement records, compliance documents, project reports, and other technical documentation.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the management and undertake frequent travel to project locations, government offices, vendors, and partner organizations across India.
