POSITION OBJECTIVE or JOB SUMMARY:
The Accounts & Administration Officer will be responsible for maintaining accurate and up to date financial records of the Tata Trust Sagar Project. The role includes ensuring proper financial documentation, compliance with applicable accounting standards and organizational policies, and providing support for audits, financial reporting, and budget monitoring. The position plays a critical role in maintaining financial transparency and accountability of the project.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
• Maintain complete and accurate books of accounts for the project on a regular basis.
• Record all financial transactions including receipts, payments, advances, and adjustments.
• Ensure proper documentation and filing of vouchers, bills, invoices, and supporting documents.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and utilization reports.
• Support budget tracking, expenditure monitoring, and variance analysis.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, donor guidelines, and organizational financial policies.
• Manage bank accounts, bank reconciliation statements, and cash books.
• Support internal and external audits by providing required documents and clarifications.
• Coordinate with project teams for timely submission of financial documents.
• Assist in statutory compliance, including TDS, GST (if applicable), and other financial obligations.
• Maintain asset registers and support inventory management.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (B.Com) is mandatory.
• M.Com / CA (Inter) / ICWA (Inter) will be an added advantage.
• Knowledge of accounting software (Tally or similar) is essential.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in accounting, preferably in development sector or donor funded projects.
• Experience in handling project accounts, audits, and financial reporting.
• Familiarity with donor compliance requirements will be preferred.
• Prior experience working with NGOs, trusts, or development projects is desirable.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial procedures.
• Proficiency in Tally, MS Excel, and other accounting tools.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to organize and maintain financial records systematically.
• Good coordination and communication skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
• Working knowledge of English for financial reporting and audit communication.
• Proficiency in Bengali (speaking, reading & writing) for local coordination.
• Knowledge of Hindi will be an added advantage.
• Integrity, confidentiality, and adherence to ethical financial practices.
• Willingness to support audits and financial reviews as required.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
• This position works in a typical office setting
• Candidates must have legal authorization to work and reside in India. Proof of residency or work authorization will be requested during the recruitment process.
