Position Description
The Officer – People Operations (HRBP) will serve as the on-ground HR partner for LLF's Uttar Pradesh operations, based in Lucknow. The role will work closely with the State Manager and state leadership to ensure effective implementation of people processes, employee support and HR operations across the state. The role will be responsible for building strong employee connect across the state, including regular travel to district locations, supporting the state's expansion and staffing requirements, and ensuring timely and effective resolution of day-today HR matters. The position will report administratively to the State Manager – Uttar Pradesh and functionally to the Sr. Manager – People Operations, ensuring that state-level HR support remains closely connected to operational priorities while maintaining alignment with organisation-wide HR policies, systems and processes.
Roles and Responsibilities HR Business Partnering & Employee Connect
- Act as the primary HR point of contact for employees and managers across LLF's Uttar Pradesh operations.
- Build regular and meaningful employee connect across the state through field visits, interactions with teams and engagement with managers.
- Undertake regular travel to district locations to understand employee needs, provide HR support and strengthen employee engagement.
- Support the State Manager and managers in addressing people-related matters, employee concerns and workplace issues.
- Identify emerging employee relations, engagement and retention concerns and work with relevant stakeholders to address them proactively.
- Facilitate effective communication of organisational policies, HR processes, employee benefits and people initiatives to field teams.
HR Operations & Employee Lifecycle
- Manage and coordinate day-to-day HR operations for employees based in Uttar Pradesh in coordination with the central People Operations team.
- Ensure timely and accurate implementation of HR processes related to joining, onboarding, transfers, confirmation, separation and other employee lifecycle activities.
- Support employees and managers in matters related to attendance, leave, payroll inputs, employee records and HR systems.
- Ensure employee data and documentation are accurate, complete and updated in the HRMS and other prescribed systems.
- Coordinate with central People Operations on employee queries and ensure timely closure of HR-related requests.
- Monitor compliance with organisational HR policies and processes and support managers in their effective implementation.
Recruitment & State Expansion
- Support the State Manager and hiring managers in meeting staffing requirements arising from the expansion of programmes and operations in Uttar Pradesh.
- Coordinate recruitment activities including manpower requirements, sourcing, interview coordination, selection documentation and offer/joining processes in collaboration with central People Operations.
- Develop an understanding of staffing requirements across districts and support timely fulfilment of positions.
- Support workforce planning and maintain visibility of vacancies, joining status and manpower requirements across the state.
- Support effective onboarding and integration of new employees into the state teams.
Performance, Engagement & Retention
- Support managers in implementing performance management processes, including goal setting, reviews, feedback and performance-related interventions.
- Support the implementation of employee engagement and people development initiatives across the state.
- Gather employee feedback and insights from the field and share relevant themes and recommendations with the State Manager and central People Operations team.
- Support initiatives aimed at improving employee experience, engagement and retention.
- Identify training and development needs emerging from interactions with employees and managers and coordinate with the central People Operations team.
HR Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure adherence to LLF's HR policies, processes and statutory requirements applicable to employees and field operations.
- Maintain appropriate employee records, HR documentation and trackers for the state.
- Support internal HR audits, reviews and compliance-related exercises as required.
- Escalate significant employee relations, policy or compliance matters to the appropriate level in a timely manner.
- Ensure confidentiality and appropriate handling of employee information and records.
HR Reporting & Coordination
- Prepare and share periodic HR updates and reports for the Uttar Pradesh state team and central People Operations.
- Track key people metrics including headcount, vacancies, attrition, recruitment status, employee lifecycle movements and other relevant indicators.
- Participate in state review meetings and provide people-related updates and insights.
- Coordinate closely with the central People Operations team on HR initiatives, systems, policies and organisational priorities.
- Document key employee and HR-related insights from the field and contribute to continuous improvement of HR processes.
Field Support & Other Responsibilities
- Undertake regular visits to district locations as required to provide HR support and maintain employee connect.
- Support the State Manager and field leadership in people-related aspects of state expansion and organisational changes.
- Identify opportunities to improve HR processes and employee experience at the state level and recommend practical solutions.
- Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by the Reporting Manager.
Educational Qualifications, Skills and Experience Qualifications
- Master’s degree or equivalent in Human Resources, Business Administration, Social Sciences, or a related field.
- A postgraduate qualification in Human Resources/Personnel Management will be an advantage. Experience
- 4–7 years of relevant experience in Human Resources, People Operations or HR Business Partnering.
- Experience in managing HR operations for geographically dispersed or field-based teams will be preferred.
- Experience of working in the development sector, non-profit sector or a multi-location organisation will be an advantage.
- Experience in employee engagement, recruitment, employee relations and HR operations is desirable.
Skills
- Strong understanding of HR operations and employee lifecycle processes.
- Good employee relations and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and credibility with field teams.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to work effectively with State Managers, programme teams and central functions.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle employee matters with sensitivity, maturity and confidentiality.
- Ability and willingness to travel regularly across districts in Uttar Pradesh.
- Good analytical and reporting skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel.
- Experience of working with HRMS/HR technology platforms will be an advantage.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Hindi.
- Ability to work independently in a field-based environment while maintaining strong coordination with the central People Operations team.
