Voluntary Health Association of India (VHAI) is a federation of 24 State Voluntary Health Associations, linking over 4,000 health and development organizations and grassroots-level community health programmes. For over five decades, VHAI has been pursuing its vision of “Making Health and Development a Reality for the People of India” by advocating people-centred policies, promoting dynamic health planning, and supporting participatory development initiatives at National and State level.
The position of Senior Program Officer – Resource Mobilisation offers an opportunity to strengthen VHAI’s resource mobilisation efforts and build sustainable partnerships to support the organisation’s public health and development priorities. The incumbent will be responsible for developing and implementing resource mobilisation strategies, identifying and engaging potential donors and partners, leading proposal development, strengthening donor relationships and supporting the organisation in securing resources from institutional donors, foundations, trusts, CSR partners and other funding sources.
The role will work closely with VHAI’s programme and leadership teams to translate organisational priorities into compelling funding opportunities and develop strategic partnerships that contribute to the organisation’s long-term sustainability and impact.
Key Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
• Educational Qualification: Postgraduate degree in Public Health/Social Work/ Social Sciences/Management/Rural Development/Corporate Social Responsibility or related disciplines.
• Experience: At least 7-10 years of relevant experience in resource mobilisation, fundraising, grant management, proposal development, institutional partnerships or related areas within the public health, development or non-profit sector.
• Resource Mobilisation Strategy: Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing resource mobilisation strategies and identifying new and non-traditional funding opportunities from institutional donors, trusts, foundations, CSR initiatives, corporates and philanthropic organisations.
• Donor Engagement & Intelligence: Experience in donor mapping, maintaining donor intelligence, analysing donor priorities and funding trends and proactively developing relationships with prospective and existing donors.
• Proposal & Grant Writing: Proven experience in developing high-quality concept notes, grant proposals, expressions of interest, pitch decks, donor presentations and other fundraising materials aligned with donor priorities and organisational needs.
• Proposal Development & Quality Assurance: Ability to lead and coordinate proposal development processes, work collaboratively with programme teams, ensure quality and timely submission of proposals and incorporate donor feedback effectively.
• Partnership Development: Demonstrated ability to build and manage strategic relationships with government agencies, institutional donors, foundations, trusts, CSR partners, corporates, civil society organisations and other stakeholders to support resource mobilisation.
• Partnership Agreements: Experience in supporting or managing the formalisation and operationalisation of partnerships, including MoUs, funding agreements, project documents and related arrangements.
• Communication & Negotiation: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong interpersonal, presentation, analytical and negotiation abilities.
• Analytical & Strategic Thinking: Strong understanding of donor requirements, funding trends, programme logic and the ability to translate organisational priorities into compelling funding propositions.
• Team Coordination: Ability to lead and coordinate complex proposal development processes and work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
• Flexibility: Willingness to travel to states as required. The candidate should be self-motivated, self-driven and capable of working independently while effectively leading diverse teams and multi-stakeholder initiatives.
