Position: Psychologist / Children Counsellor (Balgram-Residential)

Job Summary

Reporting to the Program Head - Balgram, the Psychologist/Children Counsellor is an experienced and qualified person, with a demonstrated ability to identify, assess, document, and provide age-appropriate psychological, social and emotional support and guidance to children between the age 6 to 18, facing challenging life situations.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct psychological assessments and/or tests for diagnostic purposes on regular intervals and as the need arises.
Maintain a baseline and endline progress report of every child.
Develop an individualized treatment plan for each child.
Educate family members and other caregivers on what they can do for their child or how to respond to certain behaviours.
Recommend rehabilitation or intervention programs to overcome addiction issues.
Provide complete documentation and records of assessments and treatments according to Balgram policies.
Organise camps and workshops with various stakeholders about awareness and methods to address mental health in children and caregivers.

Educational and Professional Qualifications

Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology.
Practical experience working with children in a child care institute will be strongly preferred.
Must be approachable and empathic for children to be comfortable working with you.
Must be knowledgeable of different therapeutic methods and be able to switch between different approaches to meet each child’s needs.
Excellent communication skills, specifically the ability to communicate with children of different ages and from different cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
Adhere to all professional, ethical, and legal regulations as determined by relevant regulatory bodies and the law.
Willingness to attend team meetings, as well as seminars on topics relevant to our client base.
Familiarity with non-profit sector.
Ability to access a wide range of sources and networks for information.
Good working knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications, Google Suite, and social media web platforms.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations and information.
Highly experienced in electronic communications.
