About the Role

Ujjawal Trust is looking for a motivated, dedicated, and passionate Science & Mathematics Teacher to support the academic development of children at our learning centre. The candidate will be responsible for teaching Mathematics and Science to children aged 6–18 years, supporting different learning levels, addressing learning gaps, and using engaging, activity-based and experiential teaching methods.

The ideal candidate should have strong subject knowledge, good classroom management and communication skills, and a genuine interest in working with children from underserved communities.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

Teaching & Academic Responsibilities – Primary

• Teach Mathematics and Science to children across different age groups and learning levels.
• Plan and conduct engaging, child-friendly, and age-appropriate classroom sessions.
• Identify students' learning gaps and provide remedial and additional academic support.
• Develop lesson plans, worksheets, activities, quizzes, and assessments.
• Conduct regular assessments to track students' learning progress.
• Use activity-based, practical, experiential, and storytelling-based teaching methods wherever appropriate.
• Encourage students to ask questions, participate actively, and develop conceptual understanding.
• Provide individual attention and additional support to children who require it.
• Maintain students' academic records and regularly update learning progress.
• Coordinate with other teachers and facilitators regarding students' academic needs and progress.
• Support children in developing problem-solving, logical reasoning, scientific thinking, and mathematical skills.

Science & Mathematics Activities

• Conduct practical demonstrations and simple experiments to make Science concepts easier to understand.
• Develop low-cost Teaching-Learning Materials (TLMs) and activity-based resources.
• Organise mathematics games, puzzles, experiments, projects, and group activities.
• Connect classroom concepts with children's everyday experiences and real-life situations.
• Encourage curiosity, creativity, observation, and critical thinking among students.

Technology & Digital Learning Support

• Use computers, presentations, educational applications, videos, and other digital learning tools to enhance classroom teaching.
• Support digital and technology-based learning activities.
• Prepare digital presentations and learning resources when required.
• Encourage children to develop basic digital literacy and responsible use of technology.

Centre & Programme Responsibilities
• Participate in centre events, workshops, community activities, celebrations, and organisational programmes.
• Support baseline, quarterly, and other academic assessments as required.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive, respectful, and child-friendly classroom environment.
• Work collaboratively with the programme team to achieve academic and programme objectives.
• Support other educational activities and responsibilities assigned by the programme coordinator.
• Maintain regular communication with the team regarding children's attendance, participation, behaviour, and learning progress.

Candidate Profile

Graduate/Postgraduate in Science, Mathematics, Education, B.Ed., B.Sc., M.Sc., B.El.Ed., or a related field.
Strong subject knowledge in Mathematics and Science up to school level.
Good classroom management and teaching skills.
• Ability to teach children from different age groups and learning levels.
• Experience in remedial education, activity-based learning, or community education will be an advantage.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Comfortable using computers, presentations, educational apps, and digital learning tools.
• Creative and innovative approach towards teaching and learning.
• Patient, empathetic, responsible, and comfortable working with children from underserved communities.
• Prior experience in the development or education sector will be an advantage.
• Passionate about education and committed to improving children's learning outcomes.

Salary
22,000–24,000 per month, depending on qualifications and relevant experience.
