Project Type: Nutritional support to THR-ICDS, Uttarakhand Govt.
Project Title: Improve and Augment Early Child Nutrition by Optimising the existing Take Home Ration (THR) of the ICDS scheme.
About the Role:
Himmotthan Society is implementing a community-based Nutrition Program to improve the nutritional status of pregnant women, lactating mothers, adolescent girls, children, and vulnerable households. We are looking for enthusiastic and community-oriented Field Motivators to support grassroots implementation and promote healthy nutrition practices through community engagement and behaviour change. Project is to work closely with Govt. line departments.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Community Mobilization & Awareness: Conduct village-level meetings, awareness campaigns, training/ capacity building and group discussions on nutrition, health, and hygiene, motivate pregnant women, lactating mothers, and caregivers to adopt improved nutrition practices and THR (Take Home Ration).
2. Social Behavioural Change Communication (SBCC): Conduct SBCC (Social Behavioural Change Communication) activities at village and Angan Wadi Level, deliver key messages on child nutrition, breastfeeding, complementary feeding, and dietary diversity.
3. Anganwadi Visits & Follow-ups: Conduct regular Angan Wadi Centres visits to monitor nutritional practices, Identify malnourished children and support their families with counselling and track progress of beneficiaries and provide continuous motivation within the assigned AWCs/villages.
4. Coordination with Stakeholders: Work closely with Anganwadi Workers (AWWs), ASHAs, ANMs, and local Panchayat representatives/ PRIs, support implementation of Nutrition-THR aligned with Govt. schemes like ICDS and Poshan Abhiyaan and facilitate convergence between health and nutrition services within the assigned AWCs/ villages.
5. Data Collection & Reporting: Maintain records of field activities, attendance, and beneficiary data, records of meeting minutes, SBCC and awareness activities, submit regular reports to the District Coordinator, assist in surveys, Acceptability studies, baseline/endline assessments, and monitoring visits and maintain all registers, records, growth data of children, malnourished and recovered children’s data with the assigned villages/AWCs.
6. Capacity Building Support: Assist in organizing training sessions for mothers, AWWs, community groups and frontline workers, encourage formation and strengthening of mother’s groups etc. and regular follow ups of beneficiary members whose training done.
7. Field Travel & Accessibility: Travel extensively on foot or local transport in difficult hilly terrain to visit assigned Angan Wadi Centres (AWCs)/ villages, ICDS offices and other line department offices, ensure regular presence in assigned villages despite geographic challenges and as and when required and called to visit HMS offices and review meetings.
Skills:
• Good communication skills in Hindi and local dialects (Garhwali/Kumaoni preferred),
• Strong interpersonal and motivational skills,
• Basic record-keeping and reporting ability,
• Ability to work independently in remote areas,
• Able to operate laptop for reporting and data compilation etc. and
• Maintain good conduct working with women/ Anganqadi Workes,
• Children and other community members as well as ICDS officials.
Required Qualifications & experience:
• Graduate in Social Work, Nutrition, Rural Development, or related field.
• 1–3 years of experience in community work, preferably in health/nutrition projects and experience in hilly or rural areas is highly desirable.
• Freshers with a degree, diploma, or relevant certification in Nutrition or relevant subject from reputed institutions/colleges, who have a strong passion for working with children in rural areas and demonstrate good academic and overall records, are encouraged to apply.
