Project Type: Nutritional support to THR-ICDS, Uttarakhand Govt.
Project Title: Improve and Augment Early Child Nutrition by Optimising the existing Take Home Ration (THR) of the ICDS scheme.
About the Role:
We are looking for a committed, energetic, and experienced District Coordinator to support the implementation of a community-based nutrition program aimed at improving maternal, adolescent, and child nutrition outcomes. The selected candidate will coordinate district-level activities, strengthen partnerships with government departments and local stakeholders, and ensure effective implementation of project interventions.
This role requires strong leadership at district level, field coordination, and stakeholder management skills, along with a passion for improving community health and nutrition.
The project will address these goals through the followings -
• Conduct nutritional analysis of existing THR provisions and local ingredients to assess the current state of THR in Uttarakhand.
• Reformulate THR using local ingredients and advanced food technology to meet the nutritional standards mandated by the National Food Security Act, 2013 (Updated Schedule II, 2023).
• Build the capacity of THR manufacturers to produce optimized THR mixes and train Anganwadi workers and caregivers to develop local THR recipes.
• Provide technical support for the statewide rollout of the optimized THR program.
• Evaluate the impact of the optimized THR on nutritional intake and growth outcomes in children aged 6 months to 3 years.
• Capacitate 400 Anganwadi Workers and their beneficiaries on Infant and Young Child Feeding practices.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Implementation: Plan and execute project activities related to child nutrition across the in selected blocks and districts, Ensure timely implementation of nutrition interventions.
2. Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with government line departments at district level, NGOs, community leaders, and Anganwadi workers/ Sahayikas.
3. Monitoring & Evaluation: Track project progress using defined indicators (e.g., child growth, malnutrition rates) in assigned blocks/districts, conduct field visits to monitor program.
4. Capacity Building: Organize training sessions for field staff and Anganwadi workers/ sahayikas on nutrition practices.
5. Reporting & Documentation: Prepare district level monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on project performance, maintain accurate records of activities.
6. Community Engagement: Promote awareness at district level on child nutrition, breastfeeding, hygiene, and balanced diets, THR etc. relating to project KPIs and objectives.

• Preference will be given to candidates with proficiency in local languages such as Hindi, Garhwali, Kumaoni,

• Strategy, implementation, monitoring and evaluation,
• Data analysis and reporting skills,
• Problem-solving and decision-making,
• Ability to work in rural hill regions and field settings,
• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint),
• Report writing skills in English and Hindi,
• Strong ability to build team cohesion, unite and motivate team members, and effectively liaise with government line departments.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nutrition, Public Health, Social Work, Rural Development, or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in community-based projects, preferably in nutrition or health, experience working with government programs like ICDS, Nutrition Project, community health programme or NHM (National Health Mission) is an advantage.
