HUMSAFAR is a Lucknow-based support centre for women, youth from marginalized and vulnerable communities in crisis. We're looking for a Program Officer with a strong interest in — and ideally prior experience with — gender and Identity based violence, gender justice, equity, and intersectionality.
What You'll Do
• Work directly with women and youth from marginalized and vulnerable communities in Lucknow on issues of gender- and identity-based discrimination, violence, and constitutional rights.
• Design content and lead trainings, meetings, and capacity-building sessions.
• Document project activities and prepare reports
• Work closely with the team to execute project plans
• Support other organizational initiatives with technical input, and contribute to broader organizational development
• Plan and execute advocacy campaigns, including fieldwork
What We're Looking For
• Solid grounding in gender politics
• Fluent in spoken and written English and Hindi
• Strong writing and communication skills for reports and stakeholder engagement
• Patience with the pace of social change, and a genuine team player
• Commitment to constitutional values of secularism and equity
• Deep commitment to grassroots work
• Willingness to work directly with communities and actively participate in community mobilization activities
• Organized, self-motivated, and good at managing time
• Empathetic, sensitive, creative, and non-judgmental
• Self-reflective and receptive to feedback
• Composed under stress and in crisis situations
• Comfortable multi-tasking across people, teams, and organizational demands
Education & Experience
• Post-graduate degree (social work, gender studies, development studies)
• Compensation based on experience and demonstrated capability
