About Basera Samajik Sansthan (BSS)

Basera Samajik Sansthan (BSS) is a community-based non-governmental organization registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860, with Registration No. 914. Established in 2011, BSS works towards promoting the rights, health, dignity, and well-being of LGBTQIA+ and transgender communities in India. Its key areas of work include transgender rights, HIV/AIDS advocacy, gender-based violence, healthcare access, and social entitlements.

Position Details
Position: Counsellor - 1 Position
Project: SAMARTHYA
Location: Noida, Uttar Pradesh
Salary: 19,000 per month
Travel: 1,500 per month
Communication: 350 per month
Note: EPF and ESI will be deducted as per organizational policy and applicable norms.
About Project SAHAS

Project SAMARTHYA, supported by Azim Premji Philanthropic Initiatives (APPI), focuses on improving the health, rights, and socio-economic well-being of transgender and non-binary communities. The project works across Holistic Healthcare, Gender Affirmation Care (GAC), Human Rights, Gender-Based Violence, and Social Welfare Entitlements.

Key Responsibilities
Provide counselling on gender, sexuality, HIV/STI prevention, sexual health, and GAC.
Provide information on communicable and non-communicable diseases, screening, prevention, and treatment referrals.
Support community members with mental health, trauma, violence, and psychosocial concerns.
Provide information on social welfare schemes, rights, and entitlements.
Facilitate referrals to healthcare and other support services and maintain proper documentation.
Participate in community outreach, health camps, awareness sessions, and entitlement camps.
Maintain confidentiality of all community-related information and records.
Prepare required reports and maintain project documentation.
Coordinate with project staff, community members, and referral agencies.
Perform other duties assigned by the reporting manager in line with project requirements.
Essential Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Psychology or equivalent qualification.
2-3 years of relevant experience, preferably in HIV/AIDS, sexual health, counselling, or community-based programmes.
Experience working with the Transgender/Hijra community will be highly preferred.
Good knowledge of sexual health, HIV/STI prevention, and GAC.
Strong counselling, communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in MS Office.
Fluency in Hindi and English.
Sensitivity and commitment towards transgender community issues.
Desirable
Knowledge of HIV/AIDS prevention, care, and support.
Understanding of legal, social, and health-related issues affecting transgender communities.
Experience in community outreach, advocacy, or NGO programmes.
