About the Position
CHAI is seeking a MEAL Officer to strengthen Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) across its programmes.
Working under the guidance of the Lead - Strategic Information & Organizational Development, the MEAL Officer will coordinate day-to-day MEAL functions across programmes and support programme teams to generate, analyse and use quality data for monitoring, reporting, learning and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the development and implementation of programme MEAL frameworks, plans, logframes, indicator tracking tools, and data-flow processes.
- Monitor programme performance and support timely tracking and reporting of indicators and results.
- Conduct routine data-quality checks and support programme teams in improving data completeness, consistency and accuracy.
- Analyse programme data and develop summaries, dashboards and other visualizations for management and programme review.
- Support the effective use of digital data systems such as CommCare and other MEAL platforms, in coordination with the ICT function.
- Coordinate and document Quarterly Reflection Meetings and other programme learning processes.
- Support baseline studies, assessments, reviews, evaluations and other research or learning exercises.
- Contribute to donor reports, organizational reports, programme reviews and evidence required for proposals.
- Support documentation of results, lessons learned, good practices and programme achievements.
- Build the capacity of programme staff, partners and Member Institutions in MEAL systems, tools, data quality and use of data.
- Undertake programme monitoring visits and other MEAL-related assignments as required.
Qualifications and Experience
- Master's degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Statistics, Population Studies, Monitoring and Evaluation, or another relevant discipline.
- Approximately 3-4 years of relevant professional experience in monitoring and evaluation, MEAL, programme data management, research, programme reporting or a related area, preferably in the development or public-health sector.
- Practical experience with programme indicators, data collection, data quality, analysis and reporting.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with dashboards or data-visualization tools such as Power BI would be an advantage.
- Familiarity with digital data-collection or programme-management platforms such as CommCare, KoboToolbox, ODK or DHIS2 would be desirable.
- Good analytical, documentation and written communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with programme teams and partners.
- Willingness to travel to programme locations, Regional Units and Member Institutions as required.
