1. Background and Context
About Youngistaan Foundation
Youngistaan Foundation (Youngistaan) is a grassroots not-for-profit organisation working alongside children, adolescents and families in underserved urban communities. Its programmes span education, gender and health, livelihoods, climate action, youth development, social welfare entitlements and community development.

About the Programme
The first 1,000 days of life are critical to a child’s health, growth and brain development. However, many children aged seven months to three years from low-income working families lack access to adequate nutrition, healthcare and responsive care. The limited availability of public creches further widens this gap.

To address this need, Youngistaan is establishing community-based creches across urban communities in Hyderabad. These creches will provide safe, nurturing spaces close to home, where children receive nutritious meals, engage in age-appropriate play and early learning activities, and benefit from care provided by trained caregivers from their own communities. Regular growth monitoring will help identify early signs of malnutrition and facilitate timely referrals to health services.

Youngistaan is seeking a dedicated field team to support the establishment and day-to-day functioning of these creches in close collaboration with communities, ensuring quality childcare and a nurturing environment for every child.

2. Job Description:
The Creche Supervisor is responsible for about 10 creches and is closely involved in every part of their set-up and daily running. The Supervisor works with the community to start each creche, supports and mentors caregivers, monitors children's growth and health, and keeps accurate records in the Shishu Ghar application and registers.

3. Roles and Responsibilities
Pre-Setup and Set-up Phases
1. Identify communities for the intervention based on ICDS data.
2. Visit communities and meet stakeholders (local elected representatives, Anganwadi and ASHA workers, community members) to understand the area and explore the possibility of a creche.
3. Conducts various community meetings to introduce the creche and check feasibility, and take part in caregiver selection.
4. Identify a suitable space and conduct line listing.
5. Involve community members in getting the space ready.
6. Coordinate with team members for the support needed.
7. Ensure each creche is set up with all necessary materials and facilities.
8. Attend and take part in caregivers' pre-service training.

Operational Phase
1. Enroll and measure children within a week of a creche opening.
2. Hand-hold and support caregivers and demonstrate practices at the creches regularly.
3. Record all required information in the application and registers.
4. Measure children as per the anthropometry protocol and enter the data in the app.
5. Use app data to make a weekly intervention plan.
6. Visit children's homes regularly to follow up on health and attendance.
7. Captures creche visit observations, documents and uses them for caregivers' capacity building and support mechanism.
8. Conduct, attend and facilitate regular meetings, including Creche Management Committee (CMC) and community meetings.
9. Attend Community Health, Sanitation and Nutrition Days regularly and refer children and parents as needed.
10. Identify children with severe health conditions or severe acute malnutrition (SAM) and follow referral procedures.
11. Ensure regular calibration and upkeep of anthropometric equipment.
12. Maintain records, including attendance registers, child cards, stock registers, cash book and visitors' register.

4. Qualifications and Experience
• Graduate in any discipline.
• 1-2 years of experience in community-based interventions.
• Must be from Hyderabad or the local area, with proficiency in Telugu.
