ABOUT THE PROGRAMME
SNEHA’s Maternal and Child Health Programme focuses on improving the health and nutrition of women and children, particularly during the first 1,000 days of life. It works on maternal health, child nutrition, family planning and access to healthcare through community engagement and collaboration with public health systems.

ABOUT THE PROJECT
The MSI Aahar–Sankalp Project MMR aims to improve the health and nutrition of children aged 0–5 years in Turbhe Stores, Navi Mumbai, with a special focus on the first 1,000 days of life.

The project plans to reach 8,000 households, 2,000 children and 3,000 married women of reproductive age through home visits, growth monitoring, counselling, immunisation mobilisation, community meetings and coordination with NMMC, ICDS and frontline health workers.

PROFILE SNAPSHOT
Designation: Community Organizer
Location: Turbhe Stores, Navi Mumbai
Education: Minimum SSC/HSC pass
Experience: At least 5 years in the social or public health sector
Reports to: Programme Officer

Key Focus: Community mobilisation, child health and nutrition, anthropometry, maternal health, family planning and volunteer engagement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Conduct regular home visits and growth monitoring of children aged 0–5 years.
2. Identify malnourished children, facilitate referrals and ensure follow-ups.
3. Counsel parents and women on child nutrition, maternal health, family planning and early childhood development.
4. Identify pregnant women and support early registration and referrals.
5. Identify and refer cases of domestic violence.
6. Coordinate with Anganwadi Sevikas, ASHA workers, ICDS and other stakeholders.
7. Mobilise community members and volunteers for health activities, immunisation and community events.
8. Maintain beneficiary and activity records on CommCare/Superset and prepare case stories and reports.

KEY REQUIREMENTS
1. At least 5 years of experience in community mobilisation and social/public health interventions.
2. Knowledge of child health, nutrition, maternal health and family planning.
3. Familiarity with government health systems and social protection schemes.
4. Good communication and coordination skills; Marathi and Hindi preferred.
5. Ability to work in a team, manage responsibilities and solve problems.
