Cheshire Home Mumbai, established in the year 1955, is a Mumbai based charitable organisation that works to empower Persons with Disabilities by providing as well as facilitating them access to education, health and rehabilitation and livelihoods. Cheshire Home Mumbai which began as a residential care service for PWDs, and continues to provide the same till date.

Over the years, Cheshire Homes India, Mumbai has evolved into an Urban Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) services provider for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) reaching out to a large number of them, especially those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, living in the slum communities in the city of Mumbai and distant suburbs through the outreach model.
Cheshire Homes India Mumbai has a very well equipped and a spacious physiotherapy centre at its premises in Andheri East, Mumbai.

Cheshire Homes India seeks applications from qualified persons for the role of physiotherapist (2 Vacancies)

Job Role: We are looking for a qualified, able and a dedicated paediatric physical therapist to treat musculoskeletal problems and improve the mobility of infants, children, and adolescents facing various health conditions. Your main responsibility as a paediatric physical therapist will be to improve children's motor development, strength, range of motion, endurance, balance, coordination, gait difficulties and delayed motor development.

To be successful as a paediatric physical therapist, you should be able to work under stress and counsel and interact with required patience with the families/parents/caregivers who are often less educated.

Responsibilities:
• Interviewing children and family members and using physical examinations to diagnose the source of children's movement difficulties.
• Creating unique, individualized treatment plans that outline the treatment goals and methods to be used.
• Assess and recommend assistive devices/aids and appliance that may be necessary.
• Helping children to learn to move their bodies correctly, make their movements less painful, increase the functions of injured body parts, and heal from injuries.
• Assessing patients and monitoring their progress.
• Using techniques like functional training and exercise to treat and alleviate pain.
• Coordinating a child's care with other healthcare professionals like paediatric orthopaedic specialists.
• Conducting along with the other team members sessions for caregivers, disability awareness for community health workers, anganwaadi workers, mainstream school teachers and non-disabled peer students of mainstream schools.
• Teaching children and their families about safety and home exercises.

Qualifications:
• A Bachelors/Masters in Physical Therapy from a recognised institution/College/University in India.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills especially to deal with parents/caregivers who are often less educated.
• Focussed and deal with utmost Patience with the beneficiaries and families
• The ability to handle stress and pressure.
• Attention to detail, patience, and empathy.
• Manual dexterity and physical endurance to lift patients and handle the mechanical and electronic physiotherapy equipment.

Job Title: Physiotherapist/ Sr. Physiotherapist (based on Experience)
Qualification: B.PT/M.PT (Addl. Qualifications, if any)
Experience: Candidates with Neuro./and/ or having worked with Children with musculoskeletal challenges would be preferred; However freshers with aptitude and willingness learn and to expand their exposure to equip them to address a wide range of conditions are welcome.
Client/Patients: Primarily Children with Disabilities
Work Location: (Primary Location) Mahakali Caves Road, Andheri East, Mumbai
(Secondary Location/s): Assigned Outreach Centre/s (On Scheduled Days)

Work Timings:
• Monday to Friday: 6 Hours Per Day, Saturdays: 3 Hours, Sunday: Weekly Off

A total of 33 Hours Per week (Days and Work Hours can be mutually arrived at after factoring the overall needs, timings of school going children under physiotherapy, available space/time slots of the outreach centres etc.

• Flexibility as applicable to all staff, is expected from the candidate in case of occasional mobility/local travel and occasional Extra hours or rescheduled hours in case of Events/Workshops viz. like awareness sessions, world disability day, children’s sports, International Cerebral palsy day, marathons, donor visits etc.

Compensation: Min. Rs.25,000/- to Rs. 45,000/- p.m. consolidated,. Negotiable based on qualification and experience.

Service Contract: Permanent
