Position Overview:
The Education SME Lead will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing impactful education programs for teachers and students in schools for the blind. This role will oversee the EquiBeing Teacher Fellowship Program and EquiTrain (Teacher Professional Development Program) while ensuring the highest quality of pedagogical approaches, teacher training, and educational innovation for students with visual impairments. The ideal candidate will have expertise in teacher education, curriculum design, and inclusive education and will play a key role in strengthening partnerships and leading teams to drive systemic change.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Program Design and Implementation:
a) Develop and oversee the EquiBeing Teacher Fellowship Program, ensuring high- quality engagement with fellows and school leaders.
b) Design, implement, and monitor the EquiTrain initiative to create subject-based Communities of Practice (CoPs) and Professional Learning Circles (PLCs) for teachers in schools for the blind.
c) Develop contextualized pedagogy approaches for students with visual impairments, ensuring inclusive teaching-learning experiences.
2. Curriculum and Pedagogical Leadership:
a) Lead the design of teacher education programs, focusing on innovative and inclusive pedagogy for students with visual impairments.
b) Collaborate with education experts to incorporate best practices in special and inclusive education.
c) Ensure continuous professional development of teachers through structured workshops, training programs, and digital learning modules.
3. Partnership Development and Stakeholder Engagement:
a) Build and strengthen partnerships with government institutions such as SCERT, NCERT, and NIEPA, as well as universities and teacher training organizations.
b) Collaborate with external education bodies to align programs with national and international standards.
c) Engage with policymakers, researchers, and funding agencies to advocate for inclusive education policies and programs.
4. Team Leadership and Program Management:
a)Lead and manage program teams, ensuring effective collaboration and goal alignment.
b) Supervise fellows and educators, providing mentorship and professional guidance.
c) Drive program evaluation, impact measurement, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications and Experience:
1. Master’s or Ph.D. in education, inclusive education, special education, or related fields.
2. 8 - 15 years experience in teacher education, curriculum development, or educational leadership, ideally in special or inclusive education settings.
3. Strong knowledge of pedagogical frameworks, curriculum adaptation, and training methodologies for students with visual impairments.
4. Experience in stakeholder engagement, team leadership, and program management.
5. Skills in influencing, negotiation, program design, and budgeting.
Preferred Skills and Attributes:
1. Expertise in special education methodologies and digital accessibility for visually impaired students.
2. Prior work with NCERT, NIEPA, SCERT, or leading teacher education institutes is highly desirable.
3. Strong leadership and team management skills.
4. Excellent communication and partnership-building abilities.
5. Ability to drive strategic initiatives and align them with organizational goals.
