About Water For People :
Water for People India is a non-profit organization which supports people of developing countries to improve their quality of life by promoting of locally sustainable drinking water sources, sanitation facilities and health and hygiene programs. We believe that access to safe water and adequate sanitation are basic human rights and can help put an end to needless suffering and mortality from water related preventable diseases.
Water for People India initiated its operations in West Bengal in 1996 in Nadia and North 24 Parganas districts. Consistent with the global vision and mission, we exist to promote the development of high-quality drinking water and sanitation services, accessible to all, and sustained by strong communities, businesses, and governments. Water For People India programs have been implemented in 26 districts in the states of West Bengal, Bihar, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Odisha and Assam.
In all, nearly 1.2 million people have been reached through community drinking water and sanitation, WASH in public institutions and market led approaches to sanitation. By 2023, Water For People India programs aim to directly benefit 2.7 million people. We aim to build capacities at the district level which will contribute to organizational commitments, thereby indirectly benefiting 14.8 million people. Water For People India implements programs through locally registered non- government organizations.

Position Summary:
The KMEL role will act as a focal point, working closely with state teams and reporting to the MEL Manager. Responsibilities include overseeing evaluation and learning across project locations, ensuring data collection and updates, managing reporting and documentation, and facilitating knowledge sharing. The role also supports communication efforts such as social media content, success stories, process documentation, and impact studies to enhance visibility and showcase impact.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Knowledge Management and MEL:
• Ensure and guide the data collection processes (baseline, midline, endline, and regular monitoring).
• Maintain and update project databases, dashboards, and data management systems.
• Conduct regular field visits for quality checks.
• Document case studies, success stories, progress reports, and best practices as per the specific cycles and according to stated templates.
• Compile field learnings and support internal knowledge sharing sessions.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual project reports.
• Maintain a structured digital repository on SharePoint and ensure all reports and datasets are archived systematically.
• Ensure systematic storage and retrieval of project information (all the products from individual projects).
Learning & Cross-Team Coordination:
• Work closely with the knowledge management team
• Facilitate review meetings, learning sessions, and cross learning opportunities across teams.
• Coordinate with technical, social, and field teams to ensure the collection of data on time and share feedback for enhancing the quality of data.
Communication & Social Media:
• Prepare content for social media, newsletters, presentations, and communication materials.
• Support creation of infographics, short field updates, and communication briefs.
Prerequisites for the position :
Educational Qualification:
• Graduate/Postgraduate degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Public Policy, Mass Communications, or related field.
• Formal training in knowledge management will be an advantage.
Experience:
• Minimum 2–4 years of experience in MERL, data collection, analysis, or project documentation roles.
• Experience in development sector projects such as WASH, WRM, livelihoods, health, or rural development preferred.
• Prior experience in communication, content writing, or digital storytelling will be essential.
Key Skills & Competencies:
• Good knowledge of data collection and analytical tools (KoBo, ODK, mWater, or similar platforms).
• Expertise in Monitoring, Evaluation and Research methodologies and tools.
• Strong writing, documentation, and storytelling skills, including data stories
• Ability to produce high quality reports with attention to detail.
• Creative skills for social media content creation and basic design (Canva, Adobe, etc.).
• Ability to coordinate with multiple teams and manage timelines.
• Strong communication and presentation skills, including the use of AI tools.
