About GDS
Grameen Development Services (GDS) was established in the year 1993 aiming at socio-economic empowerment of poor and disadvantaged section of society particularly women living in the areas of structural poverty in India through promoting and strengthening the livelihoods. Over a period of more than three decades, GDS emerged as a successful grass-root level professional NGO in the country. Its various livelihood focused initiatives have impacted the lives of approx. 1.25 lakhs rural households in the states of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Rajasthan. Throughout its development trajectory, GDS has consistently responded to bring the social and development transformation for improving quality of life of people living in these areas. For the purpose, GDS as a learning organization gained relevant experiences by implementing various projects supported by renowned national and international funding agencies.

About the Project
Grameen Development Services (GDS) is implementing a project titled “Promoting Sustainable and Resilient Rural Livelihood Systems in Shrawasti District, Uttar Pradesh.” The project focuses on strengthening agriculture and livestock-based livelihoods and on building sustainable, community-managed institutional arrangements to support local livelihood systems. The project is being implemented in 50 villages of the Jamunaha Block of Shrawasti District in Eastern Uttar Pradesh.

GDS invites applications from suitable candidates for the following vacant position under this project-

Field Coordinators (No. of vacancies – 10)

Experienced in community mobilisation and the promotion of development interventions at the grassroots level in villages, the Field Coordinator will be responsible for executing the project’s interventions with 700 households across 2–3 villages. S/he will work directly with the community to facilitate the implementation of project interventions and in close coordination with thematic subject-matter experts and the project manager.

Location – Jamunaha Block of Shravasti district (cluster of allotted villages).

Salary – Rs. 17,000/- per month.

Qualification and experiences:
• Preferably a graduate in social sciences/agriculture/veterinary sciences from a recognised university.
• Minimum 3 years’ grassroots experience in working on similar initiatives with a commitment to working in rural areas.
• Good communication (written & verbal) skills
• Should have a 2-wheeler and a valid driving license.

Key responsibilities:
• Organise mobilisation meetings in allotted village panchayats (GPs) to disseminate the aims & objectives of the project and prepare a profile of all individual small and marginal farmers to be covered with project interventions
• Facilitate field-level implementation of project interventions in agriculture, livestock, and community institution development, and organise training and capacity-building initiatives for community members on these themes
• Collect relevant physical and financial data from the field, and help prepare MIS reports on the progress and achievements of project interventions, as required by the senior project management
• Any other project-related work assigned by management from time to time.
