• Realizing active partnerships with patients’ organizations, maximizing their impact through capacity building
• Advocating nationally with a strong patients’ voice on relevant aspects of healthcare policy, with the aim of influencing international, regional and national health agendas and policies
• Building cross-sector alliances and working collaboratively with like-minded medical and health professionals, policy makers, academics, researchers and industry representatives.
• Creating policy briefs, white papers and position statements, advocacy toolkits and various other tools to support advocacy work of patients and patient organisations.
• Incubating and nurturing patient voice in unrepresented and underrepresented areas and helping build a ecosystem for all patients to voice themselves at policy platforms.

Job Description
The Program Manager holds responsibility for developing DakshamA Health’s partnership strategy and building and managing funding agreements, identifying new opportunities and building grant proposals. The position also encompasses project management and support. This role is line managed by the CEO and the post holder may be responsible for managing and/or overseeing the work of other staff, volunteers and temporary workers where appropriate and necessary.

Responsibilities
The main responsibilities of the post are detailed below. The post holder may be required to undertake some appropriate tasks outside of these main responsibilities. DakshamA Health is a small organization and staff is expected to generally contribute to the running of the office including their own administration and filing, general trouble shooting and responding to enquiries.


1. Partnerships building and management (40%)
• Taking a leading strategic role in developing and managing DakshamA Health’s existing partnerships and developing new ones with external organizations such as Industry Partners and others
• Developing and maintaining guidelines and a forward view plan for strategic collaborations with organizations and individuals in-line with DakshamA Health’s strategy
• Ensuring that DakshamA Health has a clear strategy and plan for communicating about these partnerships and the associated outcomes through timely and clear communications using email, website, presentations at external conferences and meetings, social media and other methods as appropriate
• Ensuring DakshamA Health and partners have appropriate agreements and contracts for collaborations and fulfill contractual requirement.

2. Fundraising (20%)
Responsibility for developing DakshamA Health’s fundraising strategy and implementing an appropriate fundraising plan including:
• Leading the development of annual fundraising plans to meet defined financial targets and increase the diversity of DakshamA Health’s funding.
• Developing a rigorous system for recording and coordinating DakshamA Health’s fundraising activities including implementing fundraising plans, developing project proposals and coordinating and supporting other staff in developing proposals and ensuring appropriate contracts and that funds are received in a timely manner.
• Managing all aspects of DakshamA Health’s industry partners scheme including setting up meetings, developing the framework, maintaining appropriate and regular communications including email, website, telephone and face to face
• Coordinating and providing support for the DakshamA Healths team and Committee meetings

3. Project Management (40%)
As a key member of the staff team this post holder is expected to contribute to other areas of DakshamA Health’s work as required and within their capacity of the role to do so as well as contribute to the overall smooth running of the organization. Core responsibilities include:
• Active participation in team meetings and other activities
• Line managing project staff and ensuring timely reporting of project deliverables
• Budgeting and activity management.
• Representing DakshamA Health at external events including presentations on PAIR’s work
• Responding to general enquiries about DakshamA Health and our work
• Communicating effectively and appropriately with all DakshamA Health stakeholders
• Supporting other projects as required
• Supervising the work of staff, volunteers and temporary workers as required

Person Specification
This post offers a fantastic opportunity for someone to work closely with DakshamA Health’s funders and collaborators. These organizations represent a wide cross section of healthcare stakeholders including the healthcare industry, health professionals, academia and international healthcare policy makers. This role provides the opportunity to build working relationships with a wide range of people from different countries and backgrounds, from a wide range of health-related organizations worldwide.

This post would be an ideal opportunity for someone with excellent understanding of fundraising along with excellent project development and management skills. This post also requires someone with sound people skills, able to establish relationships and communicate effectively across diverse audiences.

It is important that the post holder is prepared to work in a relatively small team. They should be prepared to contribute to the friendly, positive and mutually supportive atmosphere that has been developed.

Requirements

Core Requirements
• At least 5 years’ professional experience in fundraising, specifically in the areas of health and international development (E)
• At least 2 years’ experience of working on international strategies and projects in the not for profit sector (E)
• The capacity to work in a developing organization with a minimum of supervision (E)
• A good team worker with a positive, enthusiastic and cheerful attitude (E)

Fundraising and Programme Development
• Demonstrate an understanding of what makes a sustainable fundraising program (D)
• Previous success in developing and securing large fundraising proposals from a variety of funders and demonstrable experience of having increased income within an NGO (D)
• Knowledge of the regulatory environment as it relates to fundraising and data protection legislation (E)

Administration
• Sound IT skills including databases and Microsoft Office Word, Outlook, Excel, Powerpoint, Internet Explorer (E)
• Excellent CRM system and database management experience (E)
• Experience of managing complex administrative processes (E)
• Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to work on multiple activities at one time, and meet deadlines (E)

Project Management
• Excellent project management skills and experience, demonstrating the ability to participate in and lead projects, and ensuring the necessary reporting and feedback loops throughout (E)
• Experience managing complex multi year projects (E)
• Sound financial management skills including dealing with multiple currencies and financial years (E)
• The ability and willingness to both be an active participant and engage others in projects (E)
• The ability to be resourceful and innovative, with a practical problem-solving approach (E)

Communications
• Excellent interpersonal skills, friendly, tactful and diplomatic (E)
• Ability to be extremely proactive in communications, talking by telephone and in person to current and prospective collaborators and funders (E)
• The ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including with people for whom English is not their first language (E)

Additional useful skills and experience
• Experience of managing volunteers, interns or temporary staff (D)
• Knowledge and experience of the common challenges faced by NGOs in diverse situations, including experience living and working with NGOs in different countries (D)
