Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Institute (WASH Institute), established in 2008, is a non-profit organization, dedicated to providing practical solutions to tackle a wide range of water, sanitation, hygiene and environmental issues in India and the neighbouring countries. WASH Institute aims to build the capacities of the sector through programs that provide a) training and academic courses, b) technical advisory and consultancy services, and c) grass roots community WASH programs.

WASH Institute has been conducting extensive training programs for government functionaries, private sector professionals, NGOs, and other practitioners with the objective of effective WASH implementation across the country. In addition, our academic campus offers Diploma and Masters level courses in sanitation, under affiliation to a leading university.

As part of our WASH Advisory program, we provide PMU services to central, state, and local governments in both urban and rural areas to support implementation of SBM, JJM, and AMRUT schemes. Our community WASH programs are currently ongoing in 15 locations across 8 states and 1 Union Territory in India.

We are a multi-disciplinary team that tackle complex multi-faceted problems of behaviour change, quality of service, and sustainability of WASH interventions. We are looking for experienced professionals to work with us towards our visions of “a world where all the communities have access to safe, protected and sustainable drinking water and sanitation services, with improved hygiene practices”.

Role Overview

We are seeking a high-impact IT Systems & Microsoft 365 Administrator to lead our digital workplace. Beyond managing hardware and helpdesk, you will be responsible for our SharePoint environment and the engine behind our internal automation. You will transform how our employees work by leveraging existing Apps on Power Platform, modify and add to them as required, to replace manual processes with streamlined, data-backed workflows. In addition, you will support websites and data dashboards.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:
1. M365 & SharePoint Administration
• Environment Stewardship: Manage and optimize our existing SharePoint Online structure, ensuring site permissions, metadata, and document libraries remain organized and secure.
• Governance and training: Monitor and enforce M365 governance policies to prevent "sprawl" across Teams and SharePoint sites and promote data protection. Train employees by creating short ‘how to’ screen grab videos or other effective communication tools.
• User Access: Manage Entra ID (Azure AD) groups, licenses, and conditional access policies.

2. Power Platform Maintenance, Troubleshooting, and Extension
• Workflow Continuity: Monitor existing Power Automate apps and flows to ensure they trigger correctly; identify, debug, and resolve any run failures or API connection issues against user complaints.
• App & Report Support: Provide Tier 2/3 support for internal Power Apps and Power BI dashboards, making minor adjustments or data-source updates as business needs evolve.
• Develop Workflows: Develop workflows to add to or modify existing Power Automate/Apps as required for evolving business processes.

3. General IT Operations (The "Generalist" Core)
• Hardware Lifecycle: Full management of employee workstations (Mac/PC), from procurement to troubleshooting and offboarding through external vendors.
• Helpdesk Lead: Act as the final point of escalation for all technical issues, supporting staff.
• Security & Backup: Oversee endpoint security, email filtering (Defender), and cloud-to-cloud backups for M365 data by checking at regular intervals.
• Website: Manage files on main website using cloudflare, go daddy, wordpress platforms

Preferred Qualification and Experience

• Education: Bachelor's computer science/ Master's computer applications/ or any relevant educational qualification.
• Generalist Expertise: 4+ years in IT Systems with Microsoft 365 SharePoint environment, with a proven track record in organizations of a similar size.
• M365 Proficiency: Deep familiarity with the Microsoft 365 Admin Center, Exchange Online, and Teams.
• Troubleshooting Mindset: Strong ability to read flow run histories in Power Automate to identify logic failures, and develop new workflows as required.
• SharePoint Knowledge: Solid understanding of SharePoint permissions (Groups vs. Sharing Links) and library synchronization via OneDrive.
• Data Literacy: Basic ability to refresh and validate data connections within Power BI Desktop (and Google Looker, other dashboards) and Service.
• Coding skills: Ability to provide basic code for automating batch processes or routine tasks to support staff. Confidence with editing/developing complex Power Automate workflows. Familiarity with AI/ML to help the organization adopt productivity tools.
• Website management: Basic skills in web server management through third party managed systems such as Cloudflare, GoDaddy, and WordPress.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
• Uptime: Ensuring 99.9% availability of core business workflows and automated processes.
• Resolution Time: Efficiently clearing helpdesk tickets and resolving "broken" flows before they impact business operations.
• Security Compliance: Maintaining a "clean" M365 Secure Score and ensuring zero unauthorized access incidents.
• Change management: Ensuring 100% staff adopt desired file handling and power apps usage behaviour.

A proactive person that is willing to help non-IT-savvy staff to adopt newer processes, to build small code snippets or power flows for easing a team’s problems. We expect a strong base in understanding code/logic/systems/hardware, with a personality that enjoys helping people.
