CINI’s core model is based on CINI method that promotes a rights-based convergence approach which has so far attracted the attention of policy makers and other different actors of development sector, and which has proven to be an effective design to promote local level solutions for improving care and protection of Children.
Project Introduction:
Aligned with Mission Vatsalya, Mission Shakti, and Mission Poshan, Project KAWACH is the British Asian Trust’s 10-year initiative to build safe, child-friendly communities across India. The programme strengthens government-led, prevention-focused child protection systems at scale, enabling early identification, coordinated action, and sustained support for children to grow and thrive. The project’s mission is to combat and reduce incidences of child marriages and other child vulnerabilities by strengthening child protection systems and community-led mechanisms. Through a holistic, multi-stakeholder approach, the project will address key risks such as trafficking, child labour, child marriage, and school dropouts, while building a responsive ecosystem that strengthens capacities, promotes collective action through child participation, and ensures every child can grow safely within a caring family environment.
In partnership with British Asian Trust, CINI will implement Project Kawach in two districts of Jharkhand – Latehar, Dumka and Bokaro – in close collaboration with the District Administration and key nodal departments, including Social Welfare, District Panchayati Raj Department, Education Department, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), and District RKSK Cell. The project adopts a system-strengthening and government-led implementation approach, with the project team providing structured technical assistance, facilitation, and capacity-building support to existing government cadres and statutory mechanisms.
The project is designed as a full-district saturation model, covering all blocks and panchayats across all three districts.
