About the Assignment
The Consultant-STEM Facilitator will play a crucial role in enhancing the scientific temperament and STEM-related skills of children in upper primary and secondary classes. This role involves engaging with children on a regular basis in ChildFund India's intervention schools, utilizing the STEM Mini Science Centers, SMART Classrooms, and STEM Mini Libraries established to enrich the learning outcomes. The Consultant will design and conduct hands-on activities, experiments, and interactive sessions to foster a deep interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics among the students.
Remain alert and responsive to any child safeguarding risks, acquire relevant knowledge and skills which will enable you to promote strong safeguarding practices, understand the safeguarding policy and procedures and conduct yourself in a manner consistent with ChildFund’s Safeguarding Policy.
Scope of Work
- Conduct regular interactive sessions, workshops, and hands-on activities for students to promote interest and understanding in STEM subjects.
- Effectively use the STEM Mini Science Center, SMART Classroom, and STEM Mini Library to enhance the learning experience.
- Align STEM activities with the school curriculum, ensuring that the activities supplement classroom learning.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to students, encouraging them to explore and pursue STEM-related projects and studies.
- Work with school teachers, parents, and community members to create a supportive environment for STEM learning.
- Monitor and assess students’ progress in STEM subjects and report on learning outcomes, providing feedback to improve program effectiveness.
- Train and support school teachers in using STEM resources and integrating STEM concepts into their teaching.
- Develop new and innovative STEM activities and experiments that cater to different learning styles and keep the students engaged.
- Ensure all activities and experiments are conducted safely and in compliance with organizational and educational standards.
- Any other tasks assigned by line manager.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Science, Education, or a related field.
- A Master’s degree in a relevant field would be an advantage.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in teaching or facilitating STEM education programs, especially at the upper primary and secondary levels. Experience in designing and conducting hands-on science activities and experiments. Familiarity with the use of technology in education, particularly in creating and delivering interactive learning sessions.
- Skills and Abilities: Strong knowledge of STEM subjects and a passion for science and technology education. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire young students. Proficiency in using digital tools and resources for education. Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, school administration, and community members. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
