Job title: Health Coordinator – Young Health Programme

Department :Program Implementation

Duration: Till 31st March 2027

Location :Delhi

Reporting to: Project Lead – Young Health Programme (YHP)

Level of Contact with Children: 2 (Sporadic or occasional contact with children)

The position holder shall be responsible to adhere & work within the ambit of Plan India’s Safeguarding Policy & Gender Equality Policy.

PROJECT BACKGROUND

The Young Health Programme (YHP) implemented by Plan India in partnership with AstraZeneca (AZ) is a long-running global initiative aimed at improving the health outcomes of adolescents and young people (ages 10–24), particularly those from marginalized communities. Through a combination of research, advocacy, and community-based interventions, YHP addresses the growing burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and other critical health challenges affecting young populations. Launched in Delhi in 2010, the programme expanded to Chennai in 2019 and Bengaluru in 2021

The project “Young Health Programme” will work with on ground team to achieve the following objectives:

• To Empower young people through building knowledge and capacity on NCD prevention, enabling them to take informed decisions about their health, using peer education and community outreach.
• To increase awareness and knowledge of parents teachers and community leaders on NCD prevention, to create a supportive and enabling environment for young people.
• To strengthen health services in the targeted area for providing access to quality youth friendly SRHR and NCD services.
• To advocate with state govt. for strengthening institutional systems and policy environment that supports NCD prevention and promotes the holistic health of young people.

Position Overview
The Health Coordinator, will be responsible to manage the day-to-day activities of the project in coordination with Health Information Centre facilitators (HICF) to ensure high quality project implementation. He/she will be responsible for providing programme update, timely reporting and documentation of the project.

KEY FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES
• To provide technical oversight to project team to ensure delivery of quality in all results areas.
• To provide support and guidance to Project team to ensure effective planning, implementation and monitoring of the project activities.
• To coordinate with the Line Manager to comply with the requirement of senior management/donor for the project.
• To facilitate the capacity building of the Project team to enhance their skills and understanding to contribute effectively.
• To anchor and facilitate the monthly planning and review meetings of the project for providing technical guidance and review in-line with annual plans and M&E indicators and outputs
• To undertake the state level influencing with Government and non-Government stakeholder for fulfilment of project's overall goal and contributing to the enhancement of its visibility in the external environment.
• To work in close coordination with line manager and with other departments -M&E and Communication for various studies and IEC & BCC material etc.
• Ensure timely and appropriate utilization of funds.
• Programmatic communication with LM to present the status update of project activities.
• Document project activities and prepare quarterly progress reports; half yearly and annual project’s report. To represent Plan India on different forums to bring visibility to YHP and Plan.
• Other duties as assigned by the Line Manager & Plan India management.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Post-graduate degree in social work or public health with minimum 5 years of work experience on public health issues within the development sector and at least 3 years’ experience of managing team in individual capacity.
• Experience and knowledge of Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health.
• Excellent facilitation and training skills.
• Excellent computer skills (Windows environment)
• Speaks, reads and writes English and Hindi fluently.

Travel Requirement: Up to 75% of the time mostly in the project area.
