Role: Lead – Trauma Informed Care

Job Summary
The Lead – Trauma Informed Care will be responsible for designing, developing and facilitating trauma informed care workshops using creative arts methods across program sites with women and men prisoners and other stakeholders. The individual will lead the research and advocacy efforts of the organisation in coordination with the other intervention teams.

Key Responsibilities :

1. Design, Develop & Deliver :
• Design trauma informed care workshops for men and women prisoners and other allies, to facilitate healing and restoration.
• Develop creative and constructive strategies, methods and modules for trauma informed care among those who come in conflict with the law and the gatekeepers in the Criminal Justice System.
• Facilitate sessions embedded in trauma informed care and leading to healing and restoration of people we work with.
• Develop, deliver and coordinate agreed trauma informed awareness training/ learning and development activities to meet the needs of staff, volunteers and other professionals working within stakeholder organisations across the relevant area.
• Carry out training needs analysis with the staff in relation to trauma and psychological approaches and then design/ deliver appropriate programmes of training, ensuring the training meets relevant quality standards.
• Analyse feedback from the training delivered and work on continuous improvement in response to feedback.
• Develop ToT modules to equip all TJI personnel to be trauma informed in their approach and practice with stakeholders. Escalate any concerns rearding employees, including safeguarding concerns, which may arise from the training sessions and maintain safe systems of work and a safe work environment.

2. Coordinate & Collaborate :
• Undertake continuing professional development including participating in clinical supervision, performance reviews and attending training as/when required.
• Work collaboratively with the other staff, volunteers, partners and stakeholders and build relationships based on trust and respect through effective communication.
• Support the trauma informed implementation group and workforce development group and deliver any objectives which come out of these groups.
• Take part in events and activities, acting as an ambassador for the project and with external partners.

3. Research & Advocacy :
• Maintain accurate and up to date records and reports and provide written and verbal reports as required.
• Design and conduct simultaneous action-based research on trauma the impact of trauma and trauma informed care among people in conflict with the law.
• Work in accordance with all relevant legislation, policies & procedures and guidelines – both internal and external.
• Keep abreast of policy and professional development within the area of professional expertise and enhance the quality of deliverables across the board.
• Develop strategies to advocate for trauma informed care approaches within the Criminal Justice System.

Qualifications & Experience :
• Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling or related mental health fields.
• Minimum 5–10 years of experience in the mental health space particularly in working with groups.
• Creative arts skills and out of the box thinking
• Strong documentation and research skills
• Strong Kannada language speaking skills.
